I do not know anything about college players. I cannot contribute to mock drafts as I have no idea who any of these people are and what kind of impact yadda yadda. I will just say. Keep up the good work all you guys and gals that pay attention.

For the record, I don't know anything (and I mean ANYTHING) about college players either. Any contributions I make in this thread are purely theoretical.

The Redskins now have about $10.5M in cap space and haven’t restructured a contract thus far.

Trent Murphy added a lot of bulk and muscle to his frame in recent months. He will continue to do so. Guess who is now going to be a fulltime defensive lineman? Oh, and confirmed.

Murphy checks in at about 280 pounds now. He is looking to add another ten pounds or so of bulk and muscle. Your new 3-4 DE.

The Redskins are interested in trading out of the first round according to various reports.

The Redskins appear to be targeting next year as an offseason that is aimed at keeping key players. If the cap remains the same, the team will have about $45M in cap space.

The cap next season is expected to conservatively rise by about $10M or as much as $13M. That would give the Redskins about $55M to $58M in cap space.

Assuming a new contract for Kirk Cousins is in place this summer and after a post June 1 release of Andre Roberts, the Redskins could have $60M to $68M of cap space for 2017. Possibly a bit higher.

There is some chatter about a possible trade during the draft for one of our receivers. It’s only a rumor – for now.

The draft strategy for Scot McCloughan will not change in light of offseason FA additions.

Today we bring you the latest mock. It features trades and other exciting information. We have another one coming tomorrow. Starting Monday, draft week, we will feature a mock each day and then we’ll post two mocks next Thursday (morning and afternoon).

Round One: A’Shawn Robinson, DE/DT, Alabama
One of the best defensive linemen to ever play for the perennial national title contender. A force for the SEC’s Crimson Tide. He can play inside or slide outside as a 3-4 end. A run stuffer. A good pass rusher, but could improve this aspect of his game. Great attitude. A dominating force who can overwhelm an offensive line. Robinson is everything you could want in a defensive lineman and more.

Free safeties are usually more valued by football teams than strike safeties. Here is one strike that you simply can’t ignore. From the program that produced Jamison Crowder, Duke has a real gem in Jeremy Cash. He started out at Ohio St., but transferred to the ACC program after his freshman season. He has steadily improved on his coverage skills and should only get better. A true playmaker. Can suddenly change the direction of a game with his ball hawking skills.

Let’s get some bad news out of the way. In early 2015, Jones was arrested for a domestic issue. The charges were dropped a week later (Tuscaloosa police and city attorney) after it appeared to be settled (altercation was verbal and not physical). Most teams have lowered his draft stock by one round. Now, some good news. Jones is one of the fastest players in the draft. The All-SEC player has the size to intimidate receivers. Very confident. Good in the run game. Switched from WR two seasons ago and has played the position ever since, so upside is enormous. Excellent punt return skills as he will occasionally take one to the house.

Round Four: C.J. Prosise, RB, Notre Dame
Prosise is an ACC performer who started out as a wide receiver, but moved to running back. Yes, he is quite effective at catching the ball from the backfield and producing big gains. Has the burst to take it to the house on any given play. Excellent size. Good speed. Originally recruited as a safety. Excels on special teams. Solid runner between the tackles and would be better in a power running scheme. Can handle a workload, but needs a few games to adjust to the NFL.

The All Big12 performer is like the classic blue collar worker who packs his lunch and comes to work with a positive attitude. There is nothing flashy about him other than dependability and reliability. He can occupy blockers at the line and apply pressure in the running and passing games. Ridgeway will likely add about ten to fifteen pounds of bulk to his sturdy frame. For his size, the Longhorn is deceptively quick on his feet. Pretty much an unmovable object on the field.

Round Five: Max Tuerk, C, Southern California
Max Tuerk, a center from perennial PAC-12 power Southern California, is an equally powerful force in the running and passing offense. He does have an injury concern and will likely be limited by the time rookie camp begins. Tuerk should be good to go for training camp and perhaps the latter part of OTAs and mini camp. Pulls excellently on sweeps and screens. Mechanics are top notch. Rarely makes a mistake. Adjusts quickly and very well to moving/explosive targets with a laser like focus. Needed to add about twenty to twenty-five pounds of bulk to his lanky frame and is doing so – very close to that target. Unfortunately (and this is true for most centers), no extended videos exist – just a few plays here and there.

Latter round free safeties need to have plenty of speed. Carson has it. Latter round free safeties need to have a nose for the ball. Carson has it. Latter round free safeties need to have an elusive ability to deal with blockers. Carson has it. Latter round free safeties need to have great tackling skills, cornerback like skills, incredible focus, football smarts, and special teams skills. Carson possesses these qualities and more. Could the CAA defensive player of the year start sometime during his first season? It’s possible.

Round Six: Cody Kessler, QB, Southern California
The Redskins will certainly take a quarterback in this draft as a developmental project and the all PAC-12 signal caller obviously fits that profile. He sees the field very well and goes through his progressions quickly and efficiently. Able to improvise with ease. Leads the west coast offense with short and intermediate passes with an amazing degree of accuracy. Could stand to improve on his longer pass accuracy. Would fit extremely well in the Redskins offense.

Round Six: Tyvis Powell, FS, Ohio St.
Did Tyvis Powell declare for the draft one year earlier than expected? Yes. Was it too soon? Likely so. Advantage Redskins. He would be a better prospect in the 2017 draft, but decided to enter this year. He would need a year of sitting on the bench and playing special teams, then could be ready to take on the role of starting free safety. He has the size that teams covet these days. Physical player. Powell covers the field with ease and was the team MVP in the national championship game for the Big Ten’s Buckeyes.

Round Seven: Darrell Greene, OT/OG, San Diego St.
The first thing that jumps out at you is the name. However, you don’t draft him just to relive some past glory. Greene (not Green) brings a pedigree of his own and it’s quite good from strictly a football perspective. However, a team suspension (several games for marijuana use) last season drops his stock. He has made amends for that lack of maturity and played the rest of this past season as a model citizen. The Mountain West prospect will likely be a quality back up for most of his career and can fill in when needed. As is the case with late round offensive line prospects, little to no video exists.

Mr. All Everything at Navy. One of the best football players ever to come out of the famed service academy. A truly electrifying presence on the field. Although he played quarterback, his pro career figures to be running back and special teams. Reynolds could obviously be the emergency QB on days when he is part of the roster. Holds numerous school records. The reigning AAC Player of The Year holds many conference records. Holds several NCAA records. An outstanding young man who exemplifies leadership. Could the Redskins pull enough strings to get him stationed in the DC region for his two year Naval commitment? Definitely.

Round Seven: Ian Seau, OLB, Nevada
He has a famous last name. Yes, the Mountain West product is a nephew of the late Junior Seau and like his famous uncle, Ian plays linebacker. He may not have the overall talent of his well known relative, but Ian Seau is a good football player. His specialty is rushing the passer. He would be an extra body on the field during passing downs and would need to make the roster as a special teamer as well. He lacks speed, but makes up for it with determination and toughness.

With Cleveland dropping out of the #2 pick, that means they're not getting a top QB who can step in and play immediately if needed, which means RG3 won't have decent competition, which means he'll probably still be the starter by the time he plays us in Landover (unless he gets injured), and you know he's going to be 200% psyched for that game, and its a game we HAVE to win, or it will make a lot of people look stupid, especially considering the cast of Browns around him, so therefore the conclusion is, draft Defense, Defense, Defense, then Robert doesn't have a chance to upset us on our own field.

Conversely, assuming Robert beats out McCown for the starting job--which in my mind is probably a 50-50 proposition--by week four the Skins and the NFL will be a nice three-game book on Robert at the controls of the Browns offense. We can bet Joe Barry will throw said book at Robert, mixing coverages and rushing from odd angles like nobody's business, trying to force Robert to beat us from the pocket.

Plus, by then we should have a pretty good idea of what kind of progress our own QB has made after his first full offseason as a starter, and if we can score points at a clip that will not allow the Browns to simply try to grind one out against us.

The Redskins are not taking a center at 21.

If the team trades down I could see a center in Round 2 or 3.

These guys like Kirwan and Kiper that have the Redskins doubling down on picks for units where we have already spent multiple high choices in the very recent past have no clue.

We need investments in some other areas other than OL and LB

It depends on where a player is ranked if you are picking at 21 and you the next best area of need is ranked at 25 on Scott's big board but a center, wide receiver are available that rank out in the as ranked 15 and 18 respectively do you reach for the defensive lineman if no trade down is offered?
Scott said in interview that the player he is targeting will most likely be there at 21 seems to me he isn't looking at the DL in the first unless one drops to us
