Are we already giving up on Amerson when the consensus here has been:

Our coaching on that side of the ball has sucked and
We've had no credible pass rush since he's been here

He's still on his rookie deal to boot. Scotty's finally giving the defense some pieces to work with, can't we see how that helps Amerson?

Amerson looked utterly lost out there last year. The key for the Redskins to decide is how much of that was due to inept coaching versus his own failures.

I was pretty high on the kid his rookie year, but last year left me kind of thinking what the ****. Which is where I'm guessing the Redskins are on him too at this point.
 
i dont think they will give up on him he is right where he needs to be now as a 2nd/3rd string instead of starting
 
We will keep 5 CB's. Amerson goes nowhere, he showed too much promise in his rookie year. Given the lack of pressure the DL produced, no wonder our secondary was burnt like toast so often.

Culliver and Breeland are starters.
Amerson and hopefully Cox will be next in line.
Who is #5 is the question.

Please no D-Hall. He is coming off a serious injury on wheels that were already slowing. If he can transtition to safety, maybe. But He is not a starter at CB in this league anymore.

Well, I wouldn't release him. But if I could get a 3rd rounder for him, I'd pay his ticket fare out of town.

I thought he was bad his rookie year, and much worse his 2nd. Can't cover, can't tackle, and as Om said, looked completely lost a lot of last year. The second year in the same system. So, like I said, barring a major turnaround, I see him as trade bait. Which he already may be come draft day.

And El, Hall is too little to play safety. If he can't play corner, I say turn him loose. I also think, if healthy, he is a much, much better option than Amerson.

Unless or new DB coach can Fewell his fire. ;)
 
WR Michael Crabtree and CB Tramon Williams are visiting the Redskins today.

I've always like Crabtree, but he seems inconsistent at times. Or not used properly.
 
He's soft. Sherman got in his head and turned him in to a little bitch. He has to leave the division now because he's been exposed so hard.
 
Crabtree is a pretty solid reciever. He had 68 catches last year for almost 700 yards (that's nearly identical to the Redskins LEADING WR last season in Garcon). In 2012 he had over 1100 yards. And in 2 of the 3 SF playoff games during his time there, he had massive games with more than 200 yards receiving and 3 TDs. He's also 27, so likely has another 4-5 years of production in him.

That's the reality of what Crabtree has done.

Here are his receiving numbers:
2009 48 catches 625 yards
2010 55 catches 741 yards
2011 72 catches 874 yards
2012 85 catches 1105 yards
2013 19 catches 284 yards (only played 5 games)
2014 68 catches 698 yards

I'd say that's pretty ****ing consistent :) He's also a downfield threat (he has never had a season without a reception of 50+ yards or more). He's not physically imposing, he's 6'2" and smallish. And he's not a redzone receiver generally speaking. But he can play.
 
Crabtree was not worth a top 10-12 pick in the draft but he is a solid wide receiver that can start here if we decide to cut Pierre Garcon and his $9.7M cap number.
 
Hell I think we've done enough in FA this season. Any more and we all may go native and blood drunk like the Vinny years.
 
I'd like to see us pick up Crabtree if we can get him at a value price. He'll likely want more than we are willing to spend, but he would be a very nice addition to the WR corps.
 
Wondering if their primary reason would be for returning kicks and punts? A decent 5th/6th wr is gravy on top.

It appears Moss is done, Ribinson was cut and Hankerson signed with Atlanta.

By my count Crabtree would probably be the #3 and quite possibly the #2 if Garcon is cut for cap reasons.
 
I was counting Moss, just cause he's been with us so long it'll take time not seeing him there. Also meant to put option (counting TE's) instead of what I wrote as WR's too.

Once we draft Kevin White the wr's should be something like..

I don't see the Skins signing much more. thinking positively - they're gonna need some cap space to resign Kerrigan to a true contract AND Pot Roast...not to mention the possibility of extending DJax sometime next season. my guess is that we'll still be looking for CBs and Safeties next off-season. one way or another...hope we aren't looking for a QB.

per previous...I'd love to see one of three scenarios:

1) pass rusher at #5 and o-line in 2nd and 3rd rnds.

2) mariota if McL sees real value w/o-line in 2nd and 3rd

3) trade down with two firsts going to o-line and 2nd going to a pass rusher with high upside....3rd rnd to development QB.
