Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, The Mock Drafts, 2015 (Continual Updates)

Okay, it appears that the top O-linemen are now gone from FA. It might not be that bad, as I read one of them was poor at pass-blocking--maybe not a great fit here.

The top safety is gone.

I love the wait-and-see attitude, but McLovin is really going to have to be sharp now in the draft to fill so many holes.

Either the coaches will just have to make what we already have work, or we can hope to use Mariota as a bargaining chip.

I don't blame you for feeling this way, but this way of feeling is a holdover from a crappy FO. How many times did we get the "best guy" available, the player who everyone touted would immediately guarantee improvement to whoever got him, only to see a letdown in the on-the-field results? The older I get, the more I think situation and atmosphere play much greater a role in our success than we want to acknowledge. Time and time again we've signed the universally regarded best player only to see them fail miserably here. At some point, it has to stop being a coincidence, doesn't it?

For the first time in forever, I actually trust our FO to be able to identify players who fit well with our scheme, fit well with the other personalities on the team, and just generally fit well with what we are trying to do. The fact that we are not major players in the first feeding frenzy doesn't bother me in the least. We aren't going to fill all of our holes this off season, whatever McLovin does fill is great by me. We'll be further along in three months than we would have been under the Bruce.

Take the money and run, DeMarco!!! “@JohnMiddlekauff: The #Raiders are in on the DeMarco Murray sweepstakes, per source”

Reconfirming my earlier report by more sources in Oakland, Raiders passing on Pot Roast.

Interesting.

Sources in Miami tell me that Ndamukong Suh will receive 60 million guaranteed over the contract. ALL OF IT WILL BE PAID THIS YEAR.

Sheeeeeesh.

Les Bowen ‏@LesBowen
So the Eagles and Rams are swapping first round picks, which only moves Birds closer to Mariota.

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet
Safety/corner Marcus Gilchrist is going to visit the #Jets tonight and tomorrow, source said. Have been interested throughout

Rich Tandler ‏@Rich_TandlerCSN
Hold that Mariota bus, folks. RT @jthom1: I'm told by Rams that Bradford-Foles trade does NOT involve swap of first-round picks.

@MikeSilver says "Keep an eye on the Redskins" in regards to Brandon Browner:

Terrence Knighton.

This is new to me....just heard from a Titans source that they are now in on Brian Orakpo. #Titans #Redskins

@JsteelznSkins @Chris_Worthy_ @Octotron Well then he came out and told @JosinaAnderson that the Raiders low-balled him. Maybe back on.

Pot Roast for supper tonight, anyone?

That's who I thought it was but wasn't sure

"Pot roast" is a freaking house. Also great in the locker room. Stand up guy.

11. Nose tackle*Terrance Knighton*-- Knighton's pass-rush ability is limited, but he's not yet 29 years old and has graded out as a top-ten run-stopping defensive tackle at Pro Football Focus in each of the past two seasons. Knighton has followed around*Jack Del Rio*throughout his NFL career and would be a strong fallback option in Oakland after the Raiders missed on*Ndamukong Suh. The Redskins, Colts, and Bears also have reported interest.Free Agent Forecast:*Raiders on a five-year, $30 million contract.

Could you imagine if the Skins got Pot Roast AND Dan Williams? It won't happen, but we are just starting to see the respect that GM McCloughan has throughout the league.
