I've read that some teams have taken him off of their draft boards entirely. He could be a high round pick - all it takes is one team.

For now, the early parts of round one are so unpredictable. You could be right and I could be wrong. Or the vice could be the versa. The beauty of mocks prior to the draft. :)

GMSM built that SF team himself (York is now shredding it). Schneider had no real success until moving to Seattle. SM was hired at the same time as Schneider up/over there. I tend to think that our GM is light years better than their GM.

It's a guess in this mock, but we know that a trade prior to, during, or after the draft is very possible. Time will tell.
 
Past is not always prologue. Just because McCloughan didn't draft a DB before Round 3 in SF doesn't mean he won't do it here. Just because he has believed in keeping the #1 pick, he could trade it one of the years he is here and not for a trade down for more picks.

Beathard came here as a guy that also focused on the draft and yet the Redskins traded their #1 pick a number of times during those years.

In the end no situation is going to be exactly like another.

Some flexibility in approach is called for and should be anticipated.

Probably a smart move although, unless he gets extended soon, it's gonna cost $4M to kick the tires on him for one season. I would assume nothing changes with our plan to acquire a Safety in the draft, other than we can, perhaps, look for one later in the draft rather than earlier.

Also wondering if this means we look at Corner a little more closely in the 2nd through 5th rounds. With a new D.C., Training Camp should be VERY interesting this Summer.

Beasley the Beast! The ACC product is the best OLB prospect this year and for good reason. He is quick and agile with a multiplicity of different moves. He basically dominates games with a laser-like focus on his subjects – primarily, the quarterback. The potential for fifteen sacks or more in his first season is not a stretch.

A gifted athlete from the Mountain West Conference, Sambrailo has a strong work ethic and enthusiasm for the game. He was the anchor of a line that opened up holes and passing lanes for a very prolific offense. Despite his bulk, this massively sized offensive tackle is an accomplished freestyle snow skier who does backflips with ease.

Jackson holds his ground against the best defensive tackles and struggles a bit against pass rushing DEs. Thus, he is better on the inside and not projected to be an OT.

He will have the luxury of spending a year learning the system with no pressure of starting, but he could force Dashon Goldson to the bench as the season progresses. With the newfound depth at S via free agency and from the draft, the Redskins will have size, speed, strength, and needed talents at these two vital positions.

My first round prediction (if we stay at 5 and Mariotta doesn't drop) is Dante Fowler.
 
Stevan Ridley is visiting the Redskins today. Fantastic RB, but coming off an ACL. I'm shocked that a team hasn't picked him up yet.

I'd guess that the odds are 50% that we sign him as our 3rd down RB.
 
between BB and McD we have roster management well covered.

Tandler criticized McCloughan for trading for Goldson rather than waiting for him to be released.

But the Redskins made Tampa pay the $4M guarantee for 2015, so the base salary of $4M is not guaranteed so that if Goldson does not show well over the summer and preseason he can be cut before final rosters are set and we are not on the hook for that money.

The other factor is that although Goldson has a relationship with McCloughan there is no guarantee that if released he necessarily would have come here first.

Tampa would have paid his guarantee anyway, and he could have gone to New England or Indianapolis to try and win sooner.
 
Yeah, I'm not sure how the Goldson move can be spun as anything worse than meh. Low risk, possibility for good level reward. If he doesn't pan out, no biggie, we cut and move on without much of a problem at all.
 
the more I look at the visit/interview list...the more the idea forms that we expect to trade down in the first round.
 
If we can trade down and still come up with a Day 1 starter like Kerrigan who has a good attitude I am all for it.

Let Dallas continue to risk guys like Bryant and Hardy blowing up on the team.

Played on the varsity basketball team as a freshman.

As previously stated, I like your picks of Beastley, and later on, TE Nick Boyle. Both are on my prediction list.

I also think some will be very disappointed if we only draft 2 O-linemen. Though I think it likely.

As long as they can all contribute, I'm not overly concerned with drafting only X, Y, Z positions. We need good football players everywhere.

hmmmm...then let's play a game...I think at least one of the fol is going to be available at #5: Mariota, Cooper, White, Fowler or Williams.

Almost certainly the fol will be there: Scherff, Beasly, Ray, Gregory.

Who ya gonna select? I go with Mariota, Williams or Fowler if he is there. If not...I trade down.
