Re: Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, Mocks, Camps, OTAs, Roster Predictions,

Boone....it's nothing rock solid quantitative. Here are my oberservations:

1. At the end of the day, preseason or not, the offense has no identity and did not score much. This owes partly to Jay Gruden's "I don't care about cohesiveness...I just want to push injuries off to the regular season" approach to preseason.

2. Until established otherwise, the offensive line is a big risk area.

3. I thought our depth was regularly ouplayed in preseason - not a good sign when the injuries start to occur.

4. Looking at the receiving corps, I did not see anything special. It's the same folks from last year with everyone betting on one new guy who caught three passes and another new guy who caught one pass in preseason as the moves that will turn the corner. Looks great on paper...but in my book it's simply wishful thinking. No continuity at QB = no continuity in the passing game until its mid to late season. Meanwhile, teams will tee off against the running game. Now, I imagine, that clever Jay guy will try to establish a deep game (unlike last season after Richardson was injured) earlier than later...assuming the pass-pro is there. We'll see - it'll make a big difference in outcomes IMO. Play-action will only get one so far.

5. Same tight ends as last year. And we expect better because?

6. Running game should be strong. That's a plus.

7. I think the other teams in the division (including the Giants) improved more than the Skins have. That's just off watching some of their preseason games so perhaps not a very scientific approach.

8. Still not clear who is calling the offensive plays. I know it shouldn't be Jay "I'll smirk when it isn't done like I did it when I played". This has been a source of confusion for this team in the past.

9. It's a show me league. We've had year after year of "we're on the precipice of real improvement" - only to have to sit through YUCK! I'll pass credit when it actually materializes.

10. Where's our red zone game? Cuz I don't see it unless we believe we can muscle the ball over the goal line in every instance.

I do believe Haskins has potential to lead this team to victories. But there is a lot of work to be done - if memory seves, his preseason QB rating was 50-some percent. I share your fear of Jay's unhealthy affinity for Colt.

Call it a feeling. Based on what I've seen I think this offense will be scoring-challenged early on mostky die to o-line attributable weakness in pass-pro.

Just what I thought in re RB.

We get a better player in Smallwood from the final cuts and by releasing Perine and the injury plagued Marshall.

Glad Perine was picked up so that Gruden won't be tempted to bring him back during the season 😆😆

Still a few spots to go, but this may be our strongest practice squad in recent memory...

Alexander
Holtz
Sims
Bee
Parris
Reynolds
Reaves

Hope nobody gets poached.

Going to rest for a couple of hours.

Skins signed Jehu Chesson and and LB Darrell Williams to the PS while I was gone.

Jordan Brailford and Shaun Wilson went to IR. That still leaves two roster spots open and one practice squad opening.

Re: Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, Mocks, Camps, OTAs, Roster Predictions,

Good job overall by team.

Concern areas for me are one the situation at LG where I don't think Flowers really won any competition. He was mediocre in the games and seems like he was gifted the position at least to start the season.

The second is depth at safety. Collins and Nicholson are young, athletic and seemed to play well together.

But Everett and Apke being one snap away from starting is worrying.

If DRC can move over and cover those spots we may be okay.
