Burner's Burning Questions: 2016 Season Predictions

Schedules are hyped ahead of the season, but injuries and other factors often make a liar out of what is supposed to be a 'killer' schedule.

Last night I saw Cam Newton take quite a few big shots by the Denver defense. He didn't look like an MVP candidate in the fourth quarter.

Who knows, if he is targeted by defenses we could be facing Derek Anderson when we play Carolina down the road.

Carson Palmer is another 35-36 year old qb like Tony Romo that tends to get hurt and misses time. Is he going to play 16 games?

I read an article on the Ravens and they don't look that good on paper but the writer seemed to infer because the Ravens are a quality organization they won't have a sub .500 record again in 2016.

Why not? If the talent is not that much better and the division is strong, it could very well happen. I don't see the Redskins being an underdog facing Baltimore.

Looking at the schedule, I think a number of people are overrating the Ravens and Packers. The Redskins have much better than a puncher's chance of winning those fights.

I agree with this. Rogers is still dangerous, but they aren't the powerhouse they used to be. And the Ravens...well, same thing applies, really.

Also, the Redskins passing game is going to work on the road too, so I would not be so quick to put us down for close victories at home and blowout losses on the road.

Weren't we nearly undefeated last year on the road? It was our home games that we struggled with. I see no reason for the road games to be hard. EDIT: What I mean is, that we had a better road record last year can help the teams poise when going into road games this year. Like, "We've done this before." kinda thing.

The only road game I see as a major challenge is the Bengals in London. Outside of that...

FYI, we have beaten the Cowboys in Dallas the past 2 years. And I don't see a trip to see the Giants as being a double digit loss.

Yeah, the Cowboys' run defense was pretty...well, nonexistent today, pretty much from what I saw, so, if Jones stays healthy, he should have a field day on them.

FWIW, mid week, Riggo, Cooley and Sheehan were doing their show.
Both ex players were comfortable in calling a 11-5 season. In fact Riggo said he was flip flopping between 10-6 or 12-4 and 'settled' on 11-5, he also claims he called 8-8 around this same time last year.

We lost our first five road games last year, actually. In fact, we didn't win one on the road until December. It was one of the big issues the Redskins were having along with the whole "can't beat a team with a winning record" thing. Fortunately, we did end up beating the Bears in Chicago on Week 14, and then won our two games on the road against Philly and Dallas to close out the season and clinch the division. So at least we don't have a "can't win a game on the road" stigma anymore.

But road game performance is not exactly one of our strong suits either.

I will say this about Riggins: He doesn't sugarcoat. If he thinks we're going to suck he'll say so.

Then again our schedule in 2015 included games against 'winning' teams like New England and Carolina, while other teams had victories against 'winning' teams like the Houston Texans and New York Jets....................

All teams over .500 are not in the same class.
