BREAKING NEWS: Redskins to lose $36 Million in Cap Space

I love this idea. Goodell can also go **** himself would be a good chant, though a little long.

I'll work on it.

I was thinking the same thing about a Skins home game. but this idea is much better!!

If the Redskins have any kind of challenge forthcoming, they will be doing it alone it seems. Cowboys appear to be unwilling to fight the penalty.

Yeah, as I noted earlier in this thread, Jerry is likely concerned about pissing off the other owners so much that they won't give him another Super Bowl here in Dallas.

So I ask you...

Are the Giants (and Mara) our most hated rival now?

That's not surprising. Their penalty was so much smaller that it wouldn't be worth it for them to fight it. If our penalty was that small, I'd say let it go too.
But if we let something this major slide, we send a message to the league that it's okay to continue to walk all over us in the future. **** that

I have to admit, the thought has been swirling around in my head the past few days. I haven't spoken of this until now because, well, dammit it's the Cowboys ... but yeah. It has crossed my mind.

I don't know, FS. Buying the rights to Hail to the Redskins and bribing their way into the league with it might just be this bad or worse.

How in the **** does the league figure that a perennial losing team like the Redskins threatens the "competitive balance" of the league ???

They act like we've been a friggin dynasty for the last 2 decades.

Quite the opposite, actually.

Redskins, Cowboys could go “nuclear” over cap mess
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/17/redskins-cowboys-could-go-nuclear-over-cap-mess/

"Five days after the NFL dropped a salary-cap bomb on the Redskins and the Cowboys, the teams could be retaliating with a bomb of their own.

A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that the Redskins and Cowboys could be going 'nuclear' with the NFL as soon as Monday.

More specifically, the two teams are contemplating suing anyone and everyone connected to the sudden removal of $46 million in total cap space over the next two years, based on the contention that their treatment of the term 'uncapped year' too literally somehow created a competitive disadvantage. Even though no rules or policies were violated..."

At the very least, John Mara should have recused himself from this particular issue due to the fact that the Giants are in the same division with the Skins and Boys. That fact alone makes this look pretty darn suspicious.

I think the very fact that the Skins just restructured Will Montgomery's contract just weeks after signing shows they they didn't have a clue this was coming either. If they had known, I believe they would have structured it this way to begin with. Which means they got caught totally flat footed by this just hours before the start of Free Agency.

Regardless of whether or not you believe the Cowboys and Redskins did something wrong (I don't believe that), it is completely amateurish the way the league pulled this 24hours prior to the start of free agency. The timing and the fact Mara was part of the committee making the decision raises many questions.

Not to mention that Goodell has close ties to the Mara family. Look at his Twitter page - he's congratulating one of their family members on their success. Seriously?

Goodell better watch his ***. He think's he's commissioner for life. He keeps trying to 'be the story', he may find out he's not the teflon commissioner he thinks he is. This is the kind of stuff the Justice Department loves to stick their nose in.

Not to mention what could go on behind the scenes. He better hope he's never stepped out on his wife, had any nose candy, or otherwise done anything that could lead to an embarrassing scandal. With hubris like his it's only a matter of time before he has a fall from grace...

Especially a DoJ that is pro union. I am not trying to turn this into a political asylum issue, just stating a fact. I really think there will be an independent investigator involved in this and it looks like Florio is putting his hat in.

I didn't expect any further investment in this issue to be initiated by either the Skins or the Cowboys, but they may be feeding off the support they seem to be getting in the unlikeliest of places throughout the media.

It looks like someone will be made to answer, be it the Skins and Cowboys or the NFL. This issue does not appear to be going away.

I gave ya'll a hint two days ago and I will ask it again...

Are the Giants (and Mara) our most hated rival now?
