VA has wanted a pro sports team for years, now they can snag two, makes sense to me. Plus DC is again now known for crime more than anything in the public eye, good for Ted, get outta that cesspool.

I personally hate the idea of tax payer funded arena's as in the long term they don't pay for themselves. I see the VA lawmakers stating this won't cost the VA tax payers but me thinks I've heard that terminology before over the years and it's usually early BS speak to gain traction.

Though technically Potomac Yards is in Virginia, is it really? 🤣

Tell you what ... if this survives the inevitable blow-back from local Alexandria interests (which successfully derailed JKC's stated desire to put the Skins there pre-FedEx Field), and the Wiz and Caps really do leave DC ... the District is going to be all that much more motivated to woo Josh Harris to sign on the dotted line at the old RFK site.

I'll be very surprised if Washington decides to make a deal with DC politicians who can't get out of their own way. Between rising violent crime rates in DC and the competency level of the folks running the local government, I would still bet on Virginia being the future location. Not being able to make a deal with the Caps and Wizards would make me more hesitant if I'm Josh Harris. Then again, WTF do I know... I think most Washington fans reside in Virginia and it's not close, so I've always wanted them to move towards their biggest base of support.

There may be some more horse wrangling and exchanging of bribes, but really I think the myth of a stadium being great for a community is mostly over. Yeah, it's good for prestige, but the costs outweigh the revenues most of the times. At least it is for football. Not as sure about hockey and basketball.

Stadiums have always only been beneficial for politicians, owners, low paid part-time workers, t-shirt sellers, and food carts. Not for taxpayers, not for residents of an area. NIMBY exists for a reason.
