Serv, that was a great post, I almost posted something like that while watching the saints screw up my sports select. Gregg is a dick but he is also a brilliant coord who can cover weaknesses with the best of them, missing him will hurt as much as payton for their O.

a few words for you.
1- Evan Mathis- anyone who has watched him the past few seasons knows the guy is a perfect fit for what shanny wants to do, he signed a very cheap deal and was a top rated Olineman, he is not massive but has great technique and was a top 5 rated guard, not top 5 rated free agent guard. the fact that we didnt even bring him in for a visit shows me that these morons are clueless about Oline.

There is always the chance that Mathis wasn't interested in the Skins, Ryman. I firmly believe we almost never know the whole story about things and so try not to jump to conclusion.

This line was much more solid at the end of last year than it is now and while some folks here are probably over rating it, you are under rating it. Period. We produced 5 straight hundred plus yard rushing efforts from 2 different rookie backs and did it with above average yards per carry numbers. The line also afforded Rex time to throw (Rex hanging on too long is a different matter). Had this line gotten the type of QB play the last 5 games last season that we are getting right now, the team might very well have finished the season with 5 straight wins.
 
Speaking of those five games with 100 yards or more with rushing to close the season, where in blue blazes are Helu and Royster? Both look like they are stuck in drying cement and can't make it back to the line of scrimmage. Morris is doing great, but to have a successful running game you need those other two to step up.

we went all in with RG, we will win maybe 4 game with this line but im more concerned about RG3, id rather make sure his development isnt david carr'ed.

Ry, I don't actually disagree too much on the content (though I suspect the Morgan signing may end up working better for us than people want to think at this moment), I disagree with your tone. I would rather have had Mathis as well, but clearly the FO graded our OLine higher than our WRs in the offseason (possibly because, as Neo pointed out, they were counting on Brown coming back?). I know you're a football guy, and are able to see things the rest of us can't, but given the current FO's ability to pick players is a hell of a lot better than it has been in decades here, I'm willing to cut them some slack. Your crusade against Shanny as a talent evaluator is well known, man. I tend to think he does better than you do, we can agree to disagree. It just gets tedious hearing you say time and time again that you know so much better than they do what we should have done.

No offense to you at all, I am quite convinced you know football inside and out, but the FO has access to info none of us do. So far, I think they're hitting more than missing.

Ah a voice of reason. Yes, what we expected, at least for those who know what they are looking at.

Ryman, stop slitting your wrists, don't over-dramatize a game we were in right to the end. That's where we want to be, in a position to win at end game.

Now, for the faint of heart rest of you all, "what you see is what you get". You can see what we have and that tells you exactly where we stand. We don't win unless we score 35-38 points per game. That's the way it has to be this year. Live it or live with it. The good news?........its right there in front of your faces. The Skins lead the league, albiet early, in scoring. That's what we must look forward to, offensive production, or we will lose. Frankly, I like going into the rest of the season with that prospect looking us in the face. And what a refreshing outlook that is, the Redskins can score, and we must score early, and often. Bottom line. Take the knives away from your throats, and get your head right with ball.
 
Before the season started, I was thinking 4-12. Maybe 3-13. Think rationally folks, we have a ****ty Oline, a ****ty secondary and a rookie QB. Not a good combo. Our first team is only decent,and if we take many more injuries, 3-13 might be a good record.

I'm willing to give this team this season to gel. Next year, they better start winning

I see alot of dire predictions for the remainder of the season. A very strong contrast since this time last week. I believe this team will contend for a playoff spot as long as they keep Rg3 healthy.
Its only week 2 guys. Its not like the Skins would go undefeated. The Rams always play us tight regardless of the records. Fisher is an outstanding coach it was the Rams first home game. I didn't mention the refs lol
The Skins are scoring twice as much as last season and haven't played a home game. Yes the Defense looks shaky and injuries are piling up. Fans get too high from the wins and too low from the losses imho.
The Skins are a mediocre team tring to move to the next level its as simple as that. I'll go on record and state that this season they will. Playoffs are a realistic expectation. The game is soo different today that it once was. Defenses don't win Championships anymore. one just needs a middle of the road defense to complement an offense that can put up 21+ pts a game.
Being a Skins fan isn't supposed to be easy thats why we are special.
 
You have to play credible defense. That's why the Giants advanced and Green Bay and New Orleans did not last season.

In regards to the Redskins, its going to be a LOT harder to field a credible defense without Orakpo, Carriker and Josh Wilson (if he misses time with a concussion).

You saw what happened as soon as Wilson went out and Griffin came in.

Griffin is too slow to play corner at 3O and coming off TWO ACL reconstructions.

I thought the idea was to use him as depth at CB and transition him to safety where his cover skills in the short and intermediate zones against backs and tight ends would make him more competitive.

Griffin did a very credible job in Week 1 vs NO as the 3rd CB. He really impressed me, in fact. But he is not a #2 and will fail if asked to do that job week in and week out. In fact, I think would start Crawford in Wilson's spot over Griffin if I were in charge. Yeah, he lacks experience but he has the raw physical tools that Griffin, at his age and physical condition, lacks.
 
You could argue Griffin saved the game against the Saints, as it was him who forced the fumble on Marques Colston that went out of the endzone.
