BGO.C.D. - Whistling Past the Graveyard

Amen! The sun is shining on my face, and it feels good!

But, I have to admit when the Eagles got their final TD, the time in between that score and the onside kick had me a little nervous.

Me too. But then I remembered - I believe....

Chip Kelly is done. At the end of the game Sam Bradford had nobody to throw the ball to as a 'go to' playmaker.

And that's because Kelly let DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin go for no compensation and then drafted receivers like Matthews and Agholor that are OK, but nothing special.

EXCELLENT write-up, John! Sadly, it hits home with me, but I've seen enough: I'm ready to step off that cliff now. :)

Great write-up! Skins have given us so little to enjoy of late - that I'm FULLY embracing this playoff run. Very proud of this team.

I love this.

I would disagree with one small thing though....we all know this is a copycat league, and I'm concerned that teams will be coming for McVay quickly.

I can only go by the past, but Gruden was asked to interview for a HC position by 3 different teams after only his first season!

After his second year, he interviewed for a HC position with 3 more. And then we finally came to terms with him after his third year.

Now I know that McVay is probably less attractive than Gruden was, as Gruden actually designed the plays--McVay apparently just calls them.

But the success we've had, and the progress that Kirk has made is something that a lot of the lesser teams in the league would love to replicate. Teams like Cleveland, etc...

I think we need to pay him quickly. I'd say we need to promote him to assistant HC or something, but I also know that we don't want to crap on his dreams in the future.

A three year extension would be perfect.

Amen, brother John.

Good one Boone. I can just see Kornheiser waving your blog for all to read and see while summoning the believers onto the immortal bandwagon. Its time to crank it up and let it roar!

Mcvay is to young to be a head coach if the skins continue having success he will get calls in the future

That's a great point McD5 - and thanks guys/gals...

He turns 30 next week.

That's still a pup (especially in my older eyes) but I like to think ahead. It's not like he's 25 or something.

Now I might be paranoid, but if we do actually win a game or two in the playoffs, I promise you that there is some desperate team out there (Detroit, Tenn, Cleveland) that would like to know how Dalton and Cousins were taught, and who just want a plan going forward.

My apologies to Boone--this isn't the larger point of a great piece--but I'd like to know that we have guys like McVay, Callahan and Fewell for the next three years if possible.

Great reflection, Boone.

I've always appreciated the overall positive approach and perspective you've brought to the boards and to the chats when it has come to this team, even in the most difficult of times.

You're a great fan and deserve this as much (if not more) than any of us.

Cheers,

CH.

They say Kirk has been watching Tom Brady and it has really shown hopefully he Kirk can continue this success for 10 some years
