Two thoughts-

1) It’s hard for me to blame/be too hard on the defense when the offense gives the ball away 5 times and is held scoreless for the first 58:31 of the game.

2) The team wants to develop Howell via a baptism by fire but sits its 1st rounder for 40 of 68 snaps?

From what I can tell, Chris, I think you have that backward. I think Forbes played 40 of 62 defensive plays.

Granted, I've only found one place so far that gives me defensive snap counts. Most of the sites focus on offensive players for fantasy football reasons.

I have no problem letting Howell grow into it if that is the strategy, however if he grows into EB's system and EB's not here next year then what was the point? I don't see us winning this week if we don't play balanced, the number two rushing defense means little 3 weeks into the season especially if teams have been focusing on their pass ranking.
