On this week's episode, the guys discuss mid-season MVPs, Barry Sanders, Belichick's groceries, Howell heroics in Rain City, spite firings, Danny Devito movies, and the 'they can't possibly beat us this time' Giants coming to town.

When talking about Sam Howell's projected season total passing yards for 2023 (about 4700), I tried to research in real time what the franchise record was, and erroneously came up with Jay Schroeder's 4109 in 1996. Bob knew that was wrong the minute I said it (as I should have), and kindly didn't call me out too harshly because he's a mensch. It didn't take long for us to correct the mistake (Kirk has the record with 4917 in 2016) with a little bit deeper and better targeted google dive.

The reason I came up with the Schroeder thing? A google search for "Washington single season passing record" and quick scroll down to this link on the team's official site:

Sheesh.

Last night's libation, because it matters:

Minglewood Distilling Company in Wooster Ohio just opened a few years ago. An interesting place built in an old building from the 1880s that once housed the Minglewood Coal & Ice supply business. Had a nice time there last year with some dear friends, did the tasting thing, etc. A good overall experience I can recommend. The spirit of choice last night was their straight bourbon (they have a lot of rather interesting flavored whiskeys and other spirits as well, including, at least when we were there, a Dill Pickle flavored whiskey. I kid you not. That was something to try ... once). Brought home a bottle of their straight bourbon, which, in their description, is a "High Rye Bourbon." Honest opinion? A gateway rye I might suggest for folks still getting into the bourbon world. Some nice bite, yes, and pleasant enough, but light, both in body and color.

That is all. Sláinte.

I was sipping on some Knob Creek bourbon, a gift from a friend. Knob Creek is a Jim Beam company product made in Clermont Kentucky. Along with Baker’s Booker’s, and Basil Hayden, it’s one of their higher tier bourbons.

I was enjoying some premium Tapp Water from a recycled wine bottle. 😉

I was drinking a wine of questionable Italian origin...

Belichick question: I'd rather have a scorpion sting me on my angle of the dangle while being forced to watch coverage of Kelce and the blonde.

Howell: How big of a sample do you believe we need to seriously consider an extension after this season? I'm not 100% sold on a 25 mil per but if we had a 3 year 35 mil guaranteed total of 60 front loaded with an option on year 3, I'd be tempted because I do believe he's just going to get better. He's had the bejeebies kicked out of him, some his fault, some not and he's channeling his inner Tom Petty "That he won't backdown." I have zero ZERO desire to draft a QB or pickup a FA for the starting role

Giants: If we lose, I will find Del Rio's dog and I will pee on it because it'll be on the defensive game plan.

By rule Howell can not be extended until after next season.

When can rookie players renegotiate their contracts?

Drafted Players cannot renegotiate their contracts until the conclusion of their third season in the NFL.

Enjoyed the pod on the road at work today.

In regards to the Giants game, I think it was barely mentioned by Neo in passing that the last time we played them Charles and Gates were still starters.
I think by now we can agree that both Larsen and Paul are upgrades when it comes to protection, along with EB's change in play calling philosophy when it comes to the passing game.

Good stuff Gentlemen...you too Boone. ;)

Well, gives us a larger sample to decide than. For some reason I thought later round players were able to sign after 2 years, but tis not the case. Good catch on that Chris.

Nice episodes, guys!

RE: Belichick...

No...Cole Strange.

Craig Hoffman listens to the pod and owes us some residuals.

I heard a lot of the same points we made as a group echoed on Galdi’s podcast as well this morning…

Mr. Harris- if you’re listening…we are available for a consulting gig. 😉
