Love it? Hate it? Doesn't much matter. As of 2/2/22 we ARE the Washington Commanders.

The guys, including some fresh faces (?) have a few thoughts on the subject.

The passion of everyone in this pod was easily conveyed and this is just a tough pill to finally swallow. We all knew it was coming, hell we all knew we'd have a measure of disappointment one way or the other because if there's one thing this team does well is f... things up. I'm still kind of numb to be honest to the whole thing, I saw the uniforms (they suck) but then again as was pointed out old school Pats and Bucs fans cringed at those changes (of course they didn't lose their name) but similar occurrence, hell there's still bucs fans here that want the creamsickles back (of course they're my age or older). I do anticipate the uni's will be tweaked in the end so I'll reserve my diarrhea that wishes to come out of my mouth from looking at the current versions for when I see what's on the field. Commanders, bleh, I would've preferred as I stated before to remain WFT but it's safe, it's the way it goes. It sucks, I remain internally confused if I should finally "admit defeat" and remove my Redskins license plate holder which I know eventually I will because that team doesn't exist anymore. The logo, logo's go through so much rebranding I expect that'll also get tweaked to something remotely acceptable. I remember when the Caps when with the teal eagles jerseys, F...... hideous but luckily they eventually got it right. While it does come down to winning at the end this feels like a death of a 1000 cuts and I'm only at 278 so I've got a ways to go before I could actually walk away from the Washington team that plays football in Maryland known as the Commanders. Now to the point Derek brought up about legacy players in his case Sean Taylor jerseys, again I go back to this team does one thing well f... things up. That's purely tasteless, imo the only jerseys at launch should be current players, bring the legacy stuff in a bit later while we fans have time to digest the mouth full of dirt we've had to swallow over the past 2 years.

Boone’s explanation that he doesn’t care about the Front Office and cares more about the product on the field: players/winning….and that’s what keeps him hanging on….

I struggle with that. Because the Front Office is directly responsible for the product that’s on the field.
And when they stand at the podium and talk to us like we’re ignorant and naive, that’s pretty hard to swallow.
Going to take some time to get past this, if I ever do…..

Much of that was involving Snyder and a combination of Cerrato and Allen.

We can only hope that that is different now. But as is said, hope in one hand, shit in the other…

Also,
Loved Canadian Hog’s statement about uniforms/ change.

I understand that they are “trying “ to market to the younger crowd…but they can’t be bothered to throw a bone to us old guys?
You can’t stand up at the podium and tell us you respect the team’s traditions, history and it’s long time fans and then introduce uniforms that don’t even hint at anything Redskins color wise.
Sheehan on his latest pod said, given the last 20 years, the bar to cross was pretty low…and they really struggled to cross it. I agree with that.
As CH stated, to be able to look at the tv and think “ I know they’re the Commanders now but I see some nod to Redskins there(color)” would be one thing. I agree, and it would help some of us cope. But it’s like they never made the effort as a nod to history, older fans etc.

And it’s a damn shame.

Ok Boomer 😉

Great podcast as always. I agree with the sentiment that now is the time to complain about the name and uniform and all this mess. Tomorrow is the day to move on. However the one thing I will continue to mock them for is that crest with the wrong super bowl dates. That still bothers me to no end and will until they fix it. It’s in the Team’s media guide from 2021 and lists the right years. Not to mention the rings have the right years. This needs more attention as it is just dumb and needs to be fixed.
