In the spirit of identifying my biggest focus this offseason (and it's not even close) ... the longer the team sale drama drags on, this is the kind of reassurance bracer I need whenever my darker angels start whispering:

The Washington Commanders are going to be sold, 106.7 The Fan columnist Rick Snider tells JP Finlay definitively.

That's the bottom line and potential buyers can quibble over the remaining details.

Asked during an appearance with JP Finlay on 106.7 The Fan if a full sale is expected, Snider replied, "Yeah, I don't think there's any way out for Snyder."

"I mean, if he wants to keep a couple percent or something, but why would you even do that?" he said. "But he's got to sell majority control and if he doesn't want to, the NFL is gonna make him. This is a done deal as far as that part goes. He's not holding onto this team."

"I know people are worried about it and worried this will fall through, but it's not," he said. "It's gonna go forward, because the NFL wants it to go forward, whether it's Bezos or whoever. They're tired of all this stuff with Dan. I tell Dan take your billions, go to England and have a jolly good time. Leave us alone."

I don’t think Snider is likely basing his take on any inside info, he’s just reading the room currently as are most of the media. There is too much momentum for a full sale not to happen ay this point and the backlash were it not to go through would be something the NFL hasn’t seen since the Colts packed their shit and crept out of Baltimore in the night.

I see the above nugget being all about Snyder trying to milk every penny he can out of Jeff Bezos who he probably has no choice but to sell to in the end.

Yeah, my main takeaway from Snider is the part about it ultimately not really mattering what Snyder wants or does at this point ... that the other owners are done with him, and if it comes to that, they'll vote the fucker off the island.

Still think they'll look to bring in a vet backup to compete and be a viable #2 ... Brissett, Bridgewater, Dalton, etc. Unless of course TH4 ends up sticking.

Payne - adios, one fantastic season does not mean we should cripple our finances because lord knows we did that in the past in FA, Haynesworth, Stubblefield and well vomit. Agree on Sweat if reasonable and definite on Curl.

As far as FA activity prior to the announced sale, we still have to play in the market but I would not expect any big splashes, they might want to make an announcement in 7 weeks but does a new owner want to come in and see "hey we have 12 holes to fill and all this cap space but the only players left are at best marginal at worst barely worth league minimum." I can't see us just sitting still while other teams start making moves for the 23 season, again just don't expect big splashes.

SuperBowl pick - Chiefs, logic says Philly but I'm not Spock so **** logic.

I mean, regardless of what happens in the next month I am pretty confident it will be the Marty’s and Rivera making Free Agency decisions. If they are somehow ‘hamstrung’ by the ownership situation, how will we be able to tell?

I mean, Washington’s free agency periods in recent years have amounted to 3 week’s of cricket chirps

Yeah but then all of a sudden we get a "Wentz" trade, yeah not a FA signing but still a SPLASH move. I don't see either this FA period but again I think we'll still be players in probably the second tier of player.

Random SB quick-takes …

- Sucks that the defensive holding call on Philly will be a “thing” forever. I can see this one easily from either side. If you’re a Philly fan you 100% know you got jobbed on a call that “could be made on every play” and that it cost you any chance you had left to stage a final drive. If you’re KC fan and they don’t make that call, and the Eagles find a way to final drive to a win, you would 100% know that a zebra cost you the game by not calling the hold—situation be damned. I wish it had not come down to that.

- Watching the KC offense own the #1 in the NFL defense in the second half—with guys literally uncovered catching quick strike TD’s from Mahomes—is a stark reminder of what kind of magic can happen when great coaching meets great QB play.

- Watching the Philly OL put on a display of power and competence (run and pass) was a stark, and kind of melancholy-inducing, reminder of what a dominant OL really means. We didn’t have a Mahomes back in the day. We had great coaching and a dominant OL.

- Mahomes can ball.

- Rihanna is a gamer. And those dancers were not just awesome but in shape.

- Travis Kelce is a stud. But he seems like douche.

- I used to roll my eyes at all the love Andy Reid always got. I mean, good coach, seems like a guy you'd have a beer with, etc. But it seemed over the top. Gotta say I kinda love the guy now.

- When Mahomes gets up limping and wincing after that first-half tackle, with KC trailing and getting manhandled on both sides of the ball, I suspect most of those watching thought "game over." I did.

- Watching KC LB Bolton morph into a great player makes me think I could be an NFL scout. Loved him coming out of college, stood on the table for him in our Draft Preview pod a couple years ago. Man plays with his hair on fire and just flat-out balls. Of course, I also remember saying Todd Husak could "make all the throws" back in the day.

- Eagles are going to have to pay Hurts Mahomes-like money. And he's earned it. But it's gonna come with risk. That dominant OL won't be there every year, and the defense won't #1 in the league every year. LOTS of free agents to re-sign for that team ... and the one thing Hurts has not been asked to do yet is consistently overcome bad OL play and having to pass his team back against all the odds. Having a potential elite franchise QB on your roster is a nice problem to have, yes. But this one has asterisks.

- Great game to watch as a fan. Yeah, I picked Philly while wanting KC ... but mostly I wanted a memorable game. For the win.

Yeah - you are 100% correct on the penalty. I was angry they threw that flag as you know, but the officials are in a tough spot. I don't know if the NFL directs coaches and players on how to answer questions about controversial Super Bowl calls, but if they do it was effective because everyone I've heard has said the right thing, even Sirianni.

Reid is going to the HOF. Makes you wonder if Donovan McNabb wasn't a bigger anchor than we realized on those Philly teams?

That was probably one of (if not THE) greatest combined QB performances in a Super Bowl ever. Looking at Hurts stats and then realizing that was on the losing side is pretty incredible. Minus the sack fumble that was almost a perfect performance. And Mahommes...

I thought the renditions of America the Beautiful and the anthem were amazing. Rihanna at halftime - I thought was really boring. Maybe just an old white guy take though.

I think Kelce is one of the most unlikable NFL personalities ever. I literally think I'd want to punch him in the face if he wore Burgundy and Gold. He's an embarrassment.

I don't know what transpired at half-time, but I gave KC no chance after seeing that first half and I was 100% wrong.
