The Pigs debate what the team's biggest priority should be in terms of position groups in the upcoming Free Agency period and the NFL Draft. #RIP Tre Johnson.

Haven’t listened to all of it yet, but I think we really need to separate “needs upgrades” from resource usage and strategy.

We need a lot of positions, but the way we do it is so dynamic.

Tight end is a needed position, for instance. I agree, Boone. But… resource wise we don’t need to dump a lot there - why?

1. There are a lot of tight end options in FA
2. There are a lot of tight ends in the back end of the draft with potential.

Receiver, running back, edge, corner and safety are the most resource deprived positions in the FA/draft class. Maybe add LB.

Running back I don’t like our room. It’s not good and needs improvement. But to me that is a position that if we aren’t swinging for the fences then it has to move back in priority.

It’s Hall, Love, Walker, Etienne to me. If it’s not them, then sign a guy that helps make us better for a lower cost and move on. But those guys immediately make us better. By a landslide.

Receiver wise there are options but the high end receiver options are not as good as the RB options unless you bring Pickens in.

Love and Hall are better than any high end receiver.

But with guys like Pittman possibly available, we have some good options. We can upgrade receiver with mid tier guys essentially and have the best receiver room we’ve had in half a decade.

If Jeremiah Smith were in this class I’d say that wide receiver is the top offensive position.

I can’t remember the last time we’ve had a running back that strikes fear in anyone.

Edge I think there are good FA options. If Bain is there at 7 I don’t look at anyone else. I sprint to the podium.

Styles and Downs are great, too. And FAs in their position are mediocre. Though I’d love Lloyd.

We just need an impact guy that improves us the most.

I think running back is the spot we can make the biggest improvement on offense. On defense it’s edge, agreed.

I think Love is the best player in the draft. Barring none. He makes us immediately better.

I wanted Gibbs a few years ago. I want Love now. But I’d probably take Bain over him. But that would even depend on FA, those two guys are close.

Bill has poor vision, poor pass pro, poor pass catching. Excellent home run ability and good potential. I don’t think he’s anywhere near as good as some people think he is here. I watched him miss hole after hole and lack creativity. It has nothing to do with him being a seventh rounder.

We need to let him develop.

Love changes games. Bill makes a few plays.

Additional comment: I’ve been saying this a lot, and I’m sure it’s wearing on some… but Tunsil is still hanging out there not extended. Until that is done I am uneasy.

We are getting closer to FA and his contract still pending is an albatross.

Yes, he’s under contract. But we all know he wants to get paid and there is a high chance he sits.

So, like I said in the original thread… to me our current biggest priority isn’t RB, WR, Edge, LB, Corner, safety or tight end…

It’s LT (the position and the player’s initials).

He gets done, I’ll shift. I just learned last year that although I was uneasy on Terry that I KNEW we’d get him done quickly. And it lingered way too long. We cannot do that with Tunsil.

If we are thinking we may not ink him and he may hold out we have to do the thing that I don’t want to do - trade him.

Starting Coleman and Conerly with no swing depth scares me.

The worst thing we can do is nothing. No contract, no compensation, and a loss of draft assets for the trade.

Yep. And as Washington fans, we should know by now that until a deal is done, nothing is certain.

Not getting a Tunsil deal done with what we invested to get him would be an absolute disaster. Hopefully we end up worrying for nothing.

I’d be so happy.

The other priority the team faces is to stop with one year deals. They need to start filling this roster with more players that fit the scheme on longer contracts. That means make a few big splashes in FA but they also need to hit on a number of good mid tier talent.

Also, I see them trying to trade back in the first and perhaps later in the draft to collect a couple extra later day two picks for the same reason. Would allow more continuity and familiarity along with cap relief while not requiring almost complete roster rebuilds every year.

I never knew Boone and Matt Millen were the same person.........I couldn't stop thinking of the Bang draft cartoon years ago during the pod.

Great job, guys. I am with John. WR is a massive priority not only for Daniels’ development, but also long term for the offense’s sustainability and succession. We need a #1 receiver that we can pair with Jayden for the next 10 years. The reality is that Terry has potentially one year remaining with us and then we have a completely bare cupboard. We need someone to whom the torch can be passed from Terry. I am not sure I want to give 20M to the guys available at WR in FA. Good business says to find your star in a deep WR draft class.
