BGO Blind Pig: Commanders 2025 Draft - Day 1 & 2 Defense!

Enjoyed the banter as usual and tell Neo to mix a little honey and lemon juice in his bourbon for that sore throat. :)

Disappointed that no one mentions Landon Jackson when it comes to an edge. 6'6 270 lbs.

I'm tired of seeing this team get bullied at the LOS on defense and would hope we could add size and power on one of our ends.
The goal should be to get past Philly and get out of our division first and foremost and Philly's Oline basically pushed the Skins front around all day.

As crazy as it sounds, i think his HS tape from a few years ago still lingers in peoples minds.

He's clearly not that same player, but it went viral for all the wrong reasons when it happened. He's actually spoken to it, about how coming from such a small town, technique and tools weren't exactly the most abundant resource, and things are much different after a division 1 football education.

Where do you envision we would be able to draft him? He seems to be a bit of a reach with #29 and most mocks show him gone before our next pick at #61. I acknowledge that it often takes two to tango, but I wouldn't be averse to dropping down from 29 and turning it into some more 2s and 3s. There's a lot of talent to choose from between 29 and 61

Excellent job as always fellas. Neophyte I hope you get to feeling better.

It’s going to be fun to see who they pick at 29 or whenever their first pick is. They could take any position on defense and that guy could have a significant role this year. They also could take someone on offense who falls much further than expected. And the trade out will be fun too. This year’s draft will be exciting in a different way than last year’s draft.

One thing you all said at the end about figuring out Fangio’s defense, I’d argue that this team has. The first game, Fangio dominated and Daniels was still banged up on short rest. But by the second game, 36 points, 368 yds of offense, 7/13 on third downs, 2/3 on 4th downs, all with 5 turnovers. And even the playoff game, it wasn’t that the offense couldn’t move the ball, it was the drive killing turnovers. Down 11 and driving late in the 3rd, if Ekeler doesn’t fumble, we may be talking about a different game. This team beat itself on offense in the playoffs and was lucky that 5 turnovers in the regular season game didn’t cost them. Fangio and that Eagles D is great and they get tremendous pressure on the QB. To their credit, they also punch the ball and cause all sorts of turnovers. That more than any talent gap or scheming is the thing the offense needs to work on.

As far as the defense stopping the Eagles offense, that’s a much bigger hill to climb. I’m hopeful the draft picks on D will help in that regard.
