My biggest take away from being there live 10 rows from the field is the size of Heinike. Say what you'd like about him but he's really short. . Every time he throws the ball it goes over the line of scrimmage on an upward trajectory hence sailing the ball on multiple targets . Having watched him he obviously throws the ball well off the run but I don't think that's a sustainable recipe for success

I met a guy at a company function a couple of weeks ago who has met Taylor in person. He said there is no way Taylor is above 5'11" and he felt like even that might be pushing it.

I am not sure his height is what is driving the high throws? He has even acknowledged that he often can’t see over the line and visualize all his receivers and that he often is throwing to the spot he thinks they should be in.

I think it’s his erratic footwork that causes balls to sail or be inaccurate. When he sets up correctly he can be a very good passer but often times he is not fully set or throws off his back foot and that’s why he is erratic.

I sometimes wonder what our QBs coach is doing because this is a clear issue and he’s not improved with it at all.

I actually don’t agree with those arguing he’s improved as a pocket passer. He looks exactly like the Taylor Heinicke of 2021 to me. We are winning more this season because we have a very good running game and a very good defense. Heinicke though is the same guy he’s always been.

Heinicke is what he is, nothing is changing that, whether we can win with him and actually score points is a different story. I still put a lot of fault on Turner for the play calling but Heinicke is due for 3-4 WTF type passes a game and that doesn't bode well for overall success. As far as the Giants game goes, we pissed away a chance, that game by all accounts in stats we should've won, I'm not pleased with the outcome, I see nothing good about that outcome, we pissed the bed just luckily didn't s*** it. On a side note, it's almost Friday.

Mostly disappointed in the tie.

Multiple chances to win that game and never stepped up to take it.

Just seemed like one of the many games they've had over the years where they could make a statement and never followed through.

Afraid that we have seen the peak of the current team and now will be the slow slide to finish the season.

At the end of the day, both teams have to be kicking themselves for the game ending in a tie. There were certainly missed opportunities for both sides. I personally would argue though that the Giants have to feel more disappointed about it. They let us drive almost the length of the field to tie and gave up a fourth down conversion on a miracle throw by Heinicke where he looked dead in the water. On top of that, I thought we had to overcome some terrible officiating on two occasions on non-pass interference plays which had a huge impact on the game - the one that wasn't called when McLaurin was obstructed with, and the other being Slayton getting away with offensive PI on a huge play which ended up getting the Giants on the scoreboard earlier in the ball game and helped change momentum in their favour.

Come the end of the bye week, assuming some of the other teams we are battling against for a playoff spot end up losing, I have a suspicion we might be feeling a bit better about avoiding defeat in the Meadowlands.

The last drive covered up for what overall was not a very good QB performance. Had Heinicke not engineered the drive to force overtime, there is probably some pretty loud clamoring for looking at the other QB options.

Not trying to pile on here but...

vs Green Bay - Had St Juste not forced a fumble 30 yards down field....
vs Indianapolis - Had Terry not made an elite level of adjustment to fight the ball away from a DB at the 1 yard line
vs Houston - Had their secondary not dropped 2 (arguably 3) gimme interceptions
vs Atlanta - Had Payne not batted the ball up and Fuller intercept the ball in the endzone.

Excellent job guys. For once, I feel confident about the bye week. They could move up and it’s not just a facetious winning or losing against a bye. The Giants lose and the commanders move into the drivers seat for the playoffs.

Also, you all had me wondering how many comebacks Heinicke has. This week was only his second 4th quarter comeback this year, Indy being the other. He also had a game winning drive in the Indy game. But that’s it. Just those 2. He had 3 comebacks last year and 4 game winning drives. But this year, he’s had only those 2.

As for the game, I too was upset at the play calling on the first OT drive. But when I went back and rewatched the throws from Heinicke, the last regulation drive when the game was tied, there were 2 passes that were almost intercepted. The first was deep in their own territory and would have been a certain loss and the 2nd would have been around midfield. The next time they got the ball was in OT and they had two runs to get into Giants territory, 2 more runs to go nowhere, then the screen that went nowhere before punting. We have seen this before that when Heinicke puts the ball in dangerous spots, they get really conservative with play calling. I get it, but I wish they had been more aggressive on 3rd down. Why not try to throw for 10 or 15 yds. If it’s intercepted, so what. You aren’t that worse off from a punt. And if it’s completed, you now are in position to win. So I understand why they called what they called, but I wish they had better situational awareness on that drive to be more aggressive and try to win.

The Tyler Larsen injury was a gut punch to this team. Silver lining is it happened just as Wes Schweitzer has come back. Wes has had huge problems with snaps earlier but he is more physical than Martin. If they can sort it out and find a way to not miss a beat then we have a shot. If the line fails apart then we won’t make the playoffs. Cosmi’s health might also come into play.


However the Bye week has come at a perfect time for Matsko to figure out the formula for the stretch run. Ideally we need a group that can continue this physical running game while avoiding the penalties and killer mistakes. Let’s see what happens. Fingers crossed.
