Best concert you've ever attended?

I saw the Ramones in the same small venue where I saw Steve Vai from 6 feet...the guy who gave me the tickets was passed out by the door when we stumbled out. We ended up at Grady, ATL's trauma center. He's still got pins and rods in his leg, I have plenty of scars. His mom was a nurse and took all my stitches out so I wouldn't have to go back to Grady.
Ramones suck.

Saw Dave Brubeck at Blues Alley right off M Street. This was Oct, 1982. She already had reservations for dinner with her roommate so they had a little round table real close to the stage - something like ten feet. It was my first real date with my future wife. She was nineteen years old. Haha.

I also saw Mose Allison there several times. Nice little venue.

I'll tell you who's touring right now that you should go see if you get the chance............Sting. He can't hit those really high Police notes anymore, but his son does, and he's opening for his dad. But Stings current tour is well worth the price of admission. We're going to see him again in Nov in Atlantic City

I was in the studio for BLUE, Bruford Levin Ultimate Extremities with Bill Bruford (Yes), Tony Levin (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel +++), David Torn and Chris Botti. That was a very rare opportunity. Album was mostly recorded live with many single takes and few overdubs

Absolutely amazing musicians.

I saw them open for Aerosmith one year. They blew Aerosmith away
Man id lobe to see Aerosmith lol. ZZZ Top was cool but more juat cause who they are. Not cause how great of a show they put on. But at their age I shouldn't expect much. I was only 2 years ago.

We saw ZZ Top during the Eliminator tour. They sounded great, but it was cheesy. They spent way too much time changing outfits and posing/reenacting videos, complete with spinning fuzzy guitars and pointing and stuff like that. Kinda lame, but they sounded really good, and I could've lived with that except the concert was very short. Not much longer than an hour and no encore. That sucked.

I'm a big fan. We saw Aerosmith when they toured with Kiss, back in the early 2000's. They sounded pretty good but, again, it was a short concert. They did some lame set as the Joe Perry Project...and no one wanted to see that shit. Kiss, on the other hand, put on a very long, and exciting show, complete with fire and explosions. The bonus is that they sounded great and had a lot of energy. With the exception of Steven Tyler, the guys in Aerosmith moved around like zombies. Very disappointing.

OMG, Tony Levin is a fretless player, iirc?

I've been fortunate enough to have been to a lot of concerts including Post Malone 2x, MGK, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Creed to name a few. Very best is tough probably a tie between Gaga and Creed. Both were amazing.

I have thought long and hard about this. I've seen so many great shows in my life. I think I'm going to have to go with the five nights of Led Zeppelin at Capital Center in the 4th row for the Presence tour.

What a great thread! I have been to over 50 great concerts from back in the 70's and 80's. From the previous comments I see I am not alone on this site.

The best concert I have ever seen is my last one earlier this year. The Eagles at Sphere, in Las Vegas. What a great venue and performance!

When my wife of over 40 years and I were walking back to our hotel, and got outside she said that the concert was great but it had just ruined all future concerts for us going forward. I agree with her. That said, I had a wonderful time at all the other concerts I attended over the previous decades.

I've seen a lot of good bands, although not all put on great shows. A recent one I really enjoyed was Greta Van Fleet. Young and engergetic and the music is good.

I'd like to know what've been your most amazing experiences, as well as the show you never made happen that you wish you had.

As for this, my friend and I got tickets to see The Kinks on their Give The People What They Want tour on January 14, 1982. We were both 15 and relying on our parents to drive us to the Capital Center (we lived in DC). It snowed a lot and neither of our parents were willing to take us and the show didn't get canceled. We never got to the show and had to eat those tickets. Still bummed 40+ years later.

I would like to say that Keith Urban was fantastic, twice. (My husband indulged letting me go with friends, understood his talent, just wasn't into it.)

Saw Yanni too. I was wearing a Testament T-shirt (Greenhouse Effect, I still have & wear it) and pretty much conducted it along with the dude from the ASO (the orchestra backing him here in ATL outdoors at Lakewood Amphitheater.)
Karen Briggs was Yanni's prime violinist at the time, and she was known for pretty much destroying the sitting city's host violinist during the duels in songs, usually the conductor. I was not disappointed, she was awesome.

Reminded me of seeing The Kinks with Alvin Lee opening at the Cap Centre on the 29th December in 1980. My brother had gotten a nice camera for Christmas, and asked if he should bring it. Since we were going with friends who already had tickets, I told him, “Nah, we’re buying tickets at the door, they’ll be way up where we won’t see shit.”

Get to Cap Centre, go up to grab tickets, and we get 7th row floor seats, singles on either side of the aisle. Alvin Lee and Dave Davies wailing in our faces all night. Brother looks at me when we get to seats and says, “Don’t bring your fucking camera! Thanks asshole!”

This is easy: Gun n' Roses & Metallica tour, July 17th, 1992 at RFK.

That was a day. Man, that was a day.

I had the option of going to this with a friend who offered me tickets - and I LOVED GnR and Metallica - or on a first date with a girl I had a huge crush on at my fast food job.

Hormones won.

Worst date I have probably ever been on. We were oil and water and she showed a side that I had never seen during our brief interactions over the fry machine.

33 years later, I still tell that story and regret that choice.
