Best #18 Pick of All Time: Art Monk

Art monk was my favourite Redskin on offence, the way he played receiver was how its meant to be played, with heart, (people talk about Hines ward blocking but Art just made it look easy) he had speed but it was his hand range that amazed me, you could throw it anywhere near him and he would catch it. I had 4 redskins jerseys, monks , Manleys, Mann and Byner. I got a Rypien jersey in 1993 lol. Monk was the standard I judge receivers by, Irvin put up bigger numbers at times but you will never read about Monk being arrested in a hotel with hookers and blow and im pretty sure he never cut a teammates throat.

Brooks was part of a scheme that was very successful. But he played on defenses with others such as Sapp, Barber, etc. that are probably going into the HOF as well.

In Washington, Green WAS the scheme. The entire Petitbon defense was geared around zoning off one side of the field for Green and funneling everything else to the inside.

The resulting opportunities for double coverage was how the Redskins were able to start corners like Barry Wilburn and Martin Mayhew on the other side and still be a strong defense.

As usual I'm late but here's an oldy but goody I just uploaded. I really need to convert some of this old stuff to widescreen.

I was at that ceremony in Canton and have to wholeheartedly agree with LL, Om and the rest who expressed the overwhelming nature of that night. Made me proud.
