Everything is good so far. This one is VERY playful and a bit destructive, but that is typical for a kitten. He'll grow out of it. He has a lot of personality.

I wouldn't worry about the TV. They respond quite well to stern warnings. Ask the breeder about how you can deal with such concerns and you may get a cat that has an even-tempered personality. They have their moments though. :)

Beautiful feline, BB. I've read that Bengals, unlike most cats, can develop a liking for playing in and with water, does Ricky show any signs of this?
 
Very beautiful. I've gotten a shelter tabby kitten since you first posted this. Trial run for the real thing. Gotta make sure we can manage to keep one in the house before I'll spend the big bucks. How's his temperment? Did you declaw?
 
Water? Yes, he likes water. I need to keep a lookout for when I'm taking a shower - he will jump in if at all possible. His water dish is a hoot. He will certainly drink the water, but he can't figure out who is staring back at him in the reflection. And yes, he loves to play with the water dish. It is a work in progress to break him of this habit.

His temperament is very playful and extreme type A. We clash, but he is slowly learning that there are limits. He is way above what the average bengal cat would be - Ricky is not a good judge of what a bengal is all about. He would not tolerate another cat at all. He is declawed - had no other choice and he has adapted well.

Some bengals get along well with other cats, some don't. You could always get an adult (from most any breeder) who would be fine with other cats. An adult bengal is much cheeper anyway and you could get a breeder-quality cat.

An adult is one year or older. Many breeders stop breeding after age two or three, so you could find one that is still young. Most go for around $100 or so.

Bengals have the normal lifespan of any other domesticated cat. Some live for a few years only and that is usually due to an unforseen illness. Some live to be eighteen or nineteen years of age. Take care of him/her and see the vet when needed/required - you will have a nice companion for many years.
 
I had Pudge from the mid 1980s to the fall of 2003.

Anyway, that is the latest pic of Ricky. I'll have more in the times ahead.

Ah. I saw the second cat in the pic on the first page and assumed it was yours. Second look it appears to be a Bengal as well? As soon as I persuade the boss, or not, I'm getting a Bengal kitten. It will just have to adjust to the current cat and poodle.
 
Yes, he is the cat on page 2 of this thread and the kitten on page 1.

Good luck with finding your new kitten. Find a good breeder or two and wait for the right cat.

Ah, cool. I think I'd prefer a one year-old anyway; sometimes kittens are a real handful. Especially at 4am when they want to play and I want to sleep. lol.
 
Absolutely beautiful, brother. He's really grown into himself, and his marking is just stunning. Truly a beautiful animal.
 
Here is a pic of Ricky from earlier this evening. He can smell salmon cooking and wanted to stake his claim. Yeah, right! :)

He will turn one on July 16 and sends his regards to BGO.

That's a badass looking cat. I'm allergic and a dog person though, so I won't be getting one anytime soon. My brother is a cat freak big time though, I'll have to see if he's looked into these.
 
The good news about bengal cats is that they are hypoallergenic for most people, but not all. So you could be fine around them - maybe not.

They cost though if you want to get a breeder quality type - which I recommend. They look the best and are very expensive. You can get them through breeders only and a contract is required upon purchase (must get spayed, neutered, can't sell to third party, etc.).

They are very active and with mine being an extreme type A, he brings another unique set of challenges each day. Something of an education is a must before owning one - get a book about bengals before buying and then decide. They are a lot of fun and constantly keep you on your toes.
