Alf, Almo, the Butler, Alfred Morris has to be one of the coolest dudes in the game.

For my generation, cool had nothing to do with the 'bling', 'pockets straight and strutting' stuff, it was about being one of the best, hanging out with the regular folks and being genuine.

Ran across this blurb which I'm sure most have seen by now

I understand what's up with the business side but on a more personal level, should the situation ever arise I'd like to shake his hand and thank him for being a guy, Redskin or not, that I'd have no trouble calling a friend.
 
Class act for sure. He might be back. The FA RB class is incredibly strong this year. I wouldn't rule it out just yet.
 
The Redskins need to add a player in the backfield that combines decent size with speed to hit the outside. Morris has slowed down and holdover Chris Thompson is best suited to being a situational player given his lack of size and injury history. Matt Jones is a complete unknown, he is about the most raw runner I have seen on this team in many years. He has all the size, speed and other athletic attributes but he didn't seem mentally prepared to play as a rookie as evidenced by his repeated failures to line up and run the called plays, etc. Whether he has the instincts to translate that athleticism into being a consistent back is a big question mark.

For these reasons, the Redskins won't bring Morris back. That would be a signal we are going to re-do 2015 all over again in the backfield and that didn't work the first time.

Chris Cooley pointed out in his game reviews how many holes were open in critical situations but Jones or Morris would either make the wrong read and run into the strength of the defense or in Morris' case lacked the speed to turn the corner on DEs.

We are going to draft a back. Not early but middle to late. And we are likely going to sign a free agent veteran as well.
 
Intead of suggesting what may or may not happen, I am simply going to extend my deepest appreciation for such a great young man. He has proven that a class act, on and off the field.
 
So then, if he goes elsewhere and fails to produce numbers like his first few years, it will go a long way to proving that he is losing it. Or, has lost it.

However, if he goes elsewhere and produces more 1,000yd+ seasons, it will go a long way towards proving this offensive coaching staff's ineptness with how to use a running game.

I don't think his success or failure next year means much with regard to our coaching staff or GM. It's probably going to be related to the scheme he's in.

Scott didn't want a ZB scheme, and the writing was on the wall as soon as he drafted Matt Jones in the third.

I hope he can find a great fit and get a nice contract. He's been a great story.
 
Perennial playoff teams have one thing in common. They don't make player decisions based on sentimentality or 'gratitude'. That we see the new regime making tough decisions is a good thing and a sign of progress, not something to criticize imho.

That being said, Almo has been a great Redskin on and off the field. If he does move on, I wish him nothing but the best. He is a class act through and through and we've rarely had someone who put everything he had into every moment of play he got as he has since 2012.
 
Every story I've ever read about Morris makes me smile and has made me happy we drafted him. I hope wherever he goes he gets used properly and shows his skeptics he still has a lot in the tank. In just four years, Alfred Morris has jumped way up high on my list of favorite Redskins. Dude worked his ass off and did what was asked of him as much as was possible.

Can't really ask for more than that.
 
I really hope we find a way to bring him back. Such a class act. I'll be a fan of his going forward.
 
The irony is Alfred Morris with his work ethic and willingness to play a role could be a fit for a team like NE behind Dion Lewis.
 
Again, not surprised Riggins 44.

Bellichick is always looking for veterans that have produced in the past and have a winning attitude and don't need to be motivated to come out and practice and get their work in.

It was interesting last offseason when Reggie Wayne signed on in New England for a couple of months but ended up retiring over the summer. He pointed to how hard the NE camp and practices were and realized that he didn't want to sacrifice that much to play ball anymore.

Think anyone would have said that about past Redskins' camps?

I hope that changes soon, the man deserves to get paid at least once.
 
I'm concerned his lack of production the past few years are hurting his chances.

NE is one the best at smoke and mirrors regarding who they are willing to kick tires on. Agents will play same game saying we are visiting NE. Hopes are they will get someone to get froggy and ante up extra dollars. Do we or anyone thinks for a minute the Patriots would have paid Oliver what GMen did? The players that sign there no they will get less money, but have a chance at a Lombardi. Depends on what means more to each guy.
 
The NFL has definitely changed with respect to running backs. 4 years and done. Running back by committee. Its not due to production, its due to the move to passing games and there isn't the need for the one back workhorse anymore. Most all teams are bringing them in like a turnstile, and its really no reflection at all on Morris production or the coach having some kind of ridiculous agenda. Its the nature of the beast in the NFL now. We must move with the crowd and make sure we are keeping the stud RB in the pipeline. The line is more important than the RB now, so we'll get the production in the run game, I'm not worried about it.

Everyone is leaving Denver, including CJ Anderson.

Denver is one of very few teams that actually uses ZB as their primary scheme.
