John Keim had a good point - we rebuffed an offer from the Titans, and are holding out for our original price. If we really wanted to get rid of him, we'd counter-offer, or settle for whatever they are offering; since we're sticking to an unrealizable asking price, it seems like more of a kick in the ass to Fatty than anything else. If this is the scenario, I'd assume the leaks are intentional, so that Albert hears about it. Doesn't seem like an excellent motivator to me, but I guess they know what they're doing.
 
Admittedly, I have not kept up with every article on the subject of Fat Al, but it sure seems to me that this is conjecture on the media's part. How sure are we that trade talks are in the works? Just because Fat Al sat out a couple of practices? If I had to bet, I would say he'll be in the Dallas game, freeing up Rak and others to knock Romo around.

During draft weekend, the Titans reportedly offered a fourth-round pick in exchange for Albert Haynesworth.

The Skins are now seeking "at least a second-round pick," with Tennessee refusing to budge. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that the Redskins will not trade Haynesworth unless the Titans meet Mike Shanahan's asking price. Schefter notes that a deal is unlikely before Monday or Tuesday of next week, as Washington has already installed its Week 1 game plan.

Amazing. You read through this stuff and it's 90% speculation based on "sources" which in fact could have heard something that was also pure speculation.

This whole thing isn't news, its illusion.

First the Skins were trying to trade Haynesworth but wanted 2 draft picks.

Now they just want a 2nd rounder.

Tennessee meanwhile isn't interested at that price.

But Albert can't be traded before Monday. Why?

Let's find a reason. Because they've already installed their game plan.

But wait, he didn't practice much this week in anticipation of being traded.

Hard to believe any of this BS. It goes in circles mostly propped up without fact.
 
I forgot which coach it was on NFLN, but they followed one of the so called 'sources.' It wound up being a janitor for the team. I saw this a few months back, but I forgot which coach it was. This was not a current head coach. For some reason, I am thinking it was one of the Moras.
 
I'm pretty tired of hearing about him. And McNabb is wrong - we can win without him. Gazillion dollars or not, it's time to move on. We've got a season to play.

Well, it's good hear that Vinny found a job.

At this point, I only care about the game on Sunday night and hope ALL the players do well.
 
It's all been a waste in a way.

I have 0% confidence that Haynesworth will be in a Redskins uniform if the league plays the 2011 season.

So, with that thought in mind, my question is why suffer his presence in 2010? :)

It's not like Haynesworth turns the Redskins from also-rans into Super Bowl favorites or vice versa with his departure.

His impact is simply overstated by many people here who are IMAGINING what AH can do but who have either never seen him play at that level or may have done so on the few occasions Tennessee is actually on national TV.

But he is no Reggie White. He is no Merlin Olsen or Bob Lilly.

The difference isn't a lack of physical talent.

The difference is ATTITUDE, MENTAL TOUGHNESS and a LOVE FOR THE GAME.

Haynesworth has none of these attributes.

Well said Bulldog. He simply is not worth the trouble.
 
When he wants to play he's one of the best in the league. But unfortunately, like Bulldog said, the man has no motivation. It's sad to see too because I'd love to see what Brian Orakpo could do if he had a motivated Haynesworth playing next to him.
 
It's damn sad when someone else has to motovate a grown ass man. It's too bad there's no clause in the bargining agreement that allows owners to recoup money from lazy pieces of ****

1) agree on wanting him gone. I've had enough of the drama. Shanahan, for better or for worse, needs to do his thing undistracted.

2) disagree on the winning part. as presently manned on defense...we have an 8-8 team. we don't have the talent for a top five 3-4 defense...especially along the d-line. bunch of old/injured/average **rts with limited time horizons. what this translates to is one more area for rebuild over the next 1-2 years - drawing resources away from other areas of need on the team...that's the real cost of Haynesworth being an uncompromising, whiny b****.
 
well, if your theory is correct than this team isn't going to make the playoffs in 2010 any way, so the club might as well jettison Haynesworth and satisfy itself with going 7-9 or 8-8 in as an improvement on 2009 and then using the draft and hopefully a deeper free agent pool in 2011 to make that next leap to playoff contender.

but in any scenario I have seen run, very few if any include Haynesworth being in Washington long-term. Most have him here just for 2010 and being traded in the offseason.

so, we are talking about a transitional player not a core performer.
 
I don't see us contending this year. Smart money is on correcting the mistakes of the past and moving forward with an actual plan for the future. It actually feels like we are moving in the right direction. AH is just a speed bump along the way.
