3rd Annual BGO "On The Clock" Draft Pool - WINNERS SILENTTHREAT & BOONE

To Neo's point on Porter:

It may well not be Porter, but there is no way John Keim knows that - that's his *opinion* plain and simple. No one in the Commander's warroom is telling media guys anything.

True. I think the thought behind it though is that Porter's not a scheme fit here. If that's true, I hope it is someone else.

Yeah, the whole 'he's a great man to man corner but can't play zone' thing. I guess my question would be, has he been ASKED to play a lot of zone? Sort of like Hendon not playing in a pro-style offense.... doesn't mean he can't, it's just not what he's been asked to do. I don't know if that criticism of Porter is valid or overblown.

Well,to be honest, the last time Ron & Co. tried to fit a man corner into their scheme, they pretty much sucked at it..lol...

Maybe they learned their lesson? It's a fun debate to have but they'll probably draft a different position Thursday night(hopefully a good OL drops to them) and render our debate moot.

IF they agree with that assessment. But yeah, they mentioned the scheme factor and the blown Jackson move as recently as this week, so could be an influencing factor for sure.

I think you may have mentioned him on the draft pod Boone but I'm intrigued by Josh Whyle the TE out of Cincinnati.

6'7 250 and from the clips I've seen, looks like he can move.

He may be a steal late.

He's a very good receiver and has made big strides as a blocker as well. Not gonna beat anyone with his speed, but yeah, he's just one of a number of really good TEs.

Thank you to all who have submitted entries into the pool thus far. For those what haven't, remember you have until Thursday at 6 pm. Anybody who has submitted entries is also able to edit picks until that time. Let's get as many entries in as possible! Your guess is as good as any.

Official Entry - Neophyte

Round 1, Pick 16 - Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee
Round 2, Pick 47 - Jack Campbell, LB, Iowa
Round 3, Pick 97 - Zach Kuntz, TE, ODU
Round 4, Pick 118 - DeMarvion Overshown, LB, Texas
Round 5, Pick 150 - Olusegun Oluwatimi, C, Michigan
Round 6, Pick 193 - Noah Ruggles, K, OSU
Round 6, Pick 215 - YaYa Diaby, Edge, Louisville
Round 7, Pick 233 - Malik Cunningham, QB, Louisville

And I think we trade back in round1 to stockpile additional picks, just no clue with who.

I'm just going with my original. I hear a lot of noise about different players, but knowing me, I've got a couple nailed and will swap them out, lol...

Clubhouse leader after the first round of the NFL Draft is SilentThreat, the only participant who correctly identified CB as being the positional selection for the Commanders in the opening round.

SilentThreat: 5 pts (Banks)
Boone: 2 pts (Jones)
DieselPwr44: 2 pts (Skoronski)
Om: 2 pts (Skoronski)
Neophyte: 2 pts (Wright)
Kel Varnsen: 2 pts (Jones)
SkinsOrlando: 0 pts (Branch)
Canadian Hog: 0 pts (Branch)

Lots of time remaining for everyone to accumulate points. It usually just takes one correct pick and a few positional round identifications to take the title. Good luck to all tonight!

Updated standings after night 2 of the NFL Draft:

SilentThreat extends his lead as a result of correctly identifying that Deonte Banks, John Michael Schmitz, and Sydney Brown would be taken in rounds 1, 2, and 3 respectively. Last night, nobody in the pool was able to earn positional points, as the Redskins surprised us all and went with a Safety in the 2nd round and a Center in the third round. It is still anybody's game as we head into Day 3 of the draft. All it will likely take is hitting on one correct Washington pick and you could make a huge leap. Good luck to everyone on Day 3!

SilentThreat: 9 pts
Boone: 4 pts
DieselPwr44: 4 pts
Om: 4 pts
Kel Varnsen: 4 pts
Neophyte: 2 pts
Canadian Hog: 2 pts
SkinsOrlando: 0 pts

One problem with using draft simulators to come up with your picks - they invariably show guys getting drafted much later than they will be in reality. That's nearly an across the board phenomenon. Compared to how they are being drafted on simulators, we're seeing players drafted 2 and even 3 rounds early.

Yep, and different simulators have different rankings altogether. Guys going in the 3rd and available in the 7th on another site. It’s kind of a mess, but I still had fun with it.
