If a player is a free agent, then you can sign them immediately. And your spot in the waiver priority won't be used.

If a player is on the waivers, then it will take a day or two for them to hit your roster. When you grab these players, you will then drop to the bottom of the waiver list.

A common strategy is to cut players so they can't be picked up in time for Sunday. Check their availability date... and your waiver priority number from the league page... and have a backup plan if someone beats you to it!

First week I can really blame myself for this crap. I dropped Baltimore D for Miami since Miami was playing the Titans who have been horrible. The Baltimore D has been pretty bad too so no loss right? Baltimore D 16 points, Miami ZERO points, I lose by 12 or something like that. Last minute decision to ditch the DST lost me a chance to knock off NEO... I suck. I make way to many waiver moves trying to catch lightning in a bottle and it never quite pans out. I've picked up a few gems, but this year? Nada.

Others have explained it pretty well, but I'll add a few details.

All players from the start of their game until Wednesday morning are on waivers; this is to avoid those who are sitting by a computer being able to snag a player having a breakout day, while others maybe at the game cannot. Essentially, this means that as of game time Monday night, all available players are on waivers. Players are also on waivers for 2 days after they are released, giving everyone an opportunity to submit a claim. If you drop someone on a Saturday, they will be unavailable for anyone to pick up that weekend as the two day period will turn into Wednesday.

Now, that being said, there was some server problems at Yahoo, which restricted add/drops as well as roster edits this past Sunday, which would have been totally unrelated to the above.
 
Today is the Trade Deadline for the league.
 
We just must not be a Trading league I guess. I don't remember any approved Trades last year and there haven't been any this year either.

I got lucky with the Schaub pick-up. This thing ain't over yet, BMarsh has the capability to go bananas, that's for sure.
 
He's not going that crazy. It's over. My players absolutely blew this weekend--right across the board.

Most aren't, unfortunately.

Which sucks, because that's a lot of the fun. I guess people are too afraid of pulling the trigger.
 
My guess is that everyone is looking for a steal, tshile. But in league like ours where everyone is football savvy you have to give value to get value. Of course, this year we all would have been looking for the same thing I think.

That seems about right. To get anyone to pull the trigger it has to be one-sided enough that they think they're getting a good deal...
 
We're Redskins fans, we've been trained to overvalue our trash. I tried to trade a couple times last year... its not a trading league.
 
Anybody know what the playoff format is?

Is it top 4 that go to the playoffs? Or do the top 6 make it with 1st and 2nd overall getting byes in week 14?
 
Playoffs: Week 14, 15 and 16 (6 teams)
Note: Week 16 runs 7 days from Dec 18 to Dec 24
