3rd Annual BGO Fantasy Football League

Eh...he looked okay. Giants DL wore down over the game, I think they've been drinking too much in celebration. And they still can't score rushing TDs in the red zone.
We were analyzing this on my couches last night. The giants d line is primarily built to rush the passer. Dallas's ZB scheme moved them horizontally, and the giants D line appears to suck awfully when they get moving side-to-side instead of going up/down the field.

A pretty ****ty o line was able to man handle the giants d line in the 4th quarter because of that. It gave us hope for our own O line this year.

You think the Cowboys were running a ZBS? I've always thought of them as more of a power-running team. Murray had zero running room in the first half; in the second half he had one big run after breaking a thousand tackles (poor tackling), and then one other one as the Giants wore down.

It looked that way to me. It looked like the stretch running plays we've been seeing for 2 years here.

Now I'm not familiar with the cowboys offsensive scheme, and I'm certainly not an NFL scout/expert. It's what we thought we saw after having a few beers from the couch.... :)

What I saw was a D line that was exhausted and unable to get into the back field starting 1/2 through the 3rd quarter, which allowed the cowboys to run the ball at will and pick up at least 3 yards a carry, breaking a few here and there, and dominating time of possession.

Dallas dominated TOP - 35 minutes to 25 :

Dallas averaged 5.5 yards per rush.

If you look at the drive charts, starting the 3rd quarter Dallas was able to hold on to the ball twice as long per drive:

The second to last one ate up a ridiculous 7+ minutes.

So what I saw was a D Line that is supposed to be one of the best in the league get pushed around by a mediocre at best O line for almost the entire second half. Now, a lot of that may have had to do with the score, but that is what I saw. They looked tired and got absolutely no penetration going against those stretch plays. Once Dallas got them to commit to going sideways they man handled them.

Hah.

Yeah.
We have a clue. (I was implying the giants were the better pick in my post)

Hey, we'll see what GB does against SF before we pass judgement on which was the better pick. The bastard Giants only gave me 4 points, so it isn't a high bar to reach, but....

That's the key to beating the Giants. When they are able to tee off on our OL because we are in catch-up mode and passing (or Kyle is being an ass) they are highly successful. But when teams play them tough (ie: us last year) they struggle and are susceptible to the stretch game. Limit their run game and don't fall behind to their early attempts at airing it out and you will have a chance against them. Let them get a two TD advantage and their D carries them home. Sorry to see that the pokes figured it out probably watching our tape last year.

Gross man week one 2011's big key - no INTs. (he did have a fumble though) Limited the run game to under 100 yards. Nicks had 122 but no tds. Eli only had a running td. We were only down 7 for a few minutes twice then Kerrigan put the nail in the coffin.

Week 15, we lead by 17 late 2nd qtr then by 14 at the half and Giants D never had a chance. Manning threw like 3 picks and hicks dropped a sure td, ware had one called back and they got yet another called back for a penalty. Still, their D couldn't just let it loose.

Giants are a very good football team, when all of them are playing well. But that could be said about most football teams.

Changed waivers from Sunday-Tuesday to Game Time-Tuesday. Kevin, you'll get to keep Ogletree, but after today any players who play Thursday games will go on waivers until Tuesday (same for Sunday players).

Nice pickup. Ogle tree is on pace for like 32 touchdowns, which would be a record or something.

Yeah and D Ware is on pace for 32 sacks. Hopefully the wheels fall off both of them.

In my other league, trying to decide if I should start Morris (who is apparently starting) or Ryan Williams in ARI, who is definitely starting? Thoughts?

I got burned by Shanahan several times late last year when I start Helu...having said that, I would probably go with Morris. Even if he has to spit carries, he is likely to have a better go of it against the Saints than Williams will against the Hawks.

I'm starting him today in the BGO league. So you're going to have mixed feelings either way Goal :)

If I had picked a defense I might be dangerous...

What the hell is up with Yahoo's scoring. The scoring has changed 3 times in the last 12 hours. It doesn't matter - Goal took me, but it went from him having a 50 point lead over me, to just a couple of points. Something screwy is going on with their software...

Especially if Matt Ryan continues to go bonkers :p

Matt Ryan went off this week and Cam failed me...ah well, on to next week!

Boone, it doesn't help you that Chris Johnson is looking...well...done. I thought maybe having a real off season without the holdout would help him but I was singularly unimpressed yesterday and it isn't like NE is a power house run stuffing team.

I'm not ready to call him 'done' yet, but yeah, he didn't impress yesterday. I expect him to improve and if MJD gets back to usual form and Peyton starts looking more like Peyton, I'll be fine...

Peyton did alright for you, brother. Cruz and Johnson are the two on your roster from Week 1 that don't appear to be pulling their weight to me. You did blow your projected total away.

Have both Morris and Royster and young TE that could make noise. I'm not a FF guy, but hope to do better than I have my first 2 years.
