As we approach the 2026 NFL season, why not look ahead to 2028? This is my second mock, looking ahead at this draft class. We still have a lot of football to see from them before we get there, but for reference, here’s my first 2028 mock from last summer. And based on what I did for each team’s 2027 Mock Draft, here are the following players I would think are drafted by your favorite teams!
Note: We have no clue which players will stay, transfer, or change schools. So this mock is based on the 2025 recruiting classes (thanks, Rivals and 247Sports). The draft order is randomized, though I do believe my Lions will win it all in 2027!
Between today and this draft, there are trade deadlines, free-agent signing periods, and, of course, the 2027 NFL Draft. A lot will happen. My goal is to get you a list of the names to keep an eye on as we move forward. It will give you a good idea of the top players that could be coming out of college in 2028. I think this class has a ton of potential, especially in terms of quarterbacks, offensive and defensive linemen. There are some super intriguing cornerbacks and even a couple of running backs I like, but knowing the averages, we may not see much more than one running back, if any, in the first round. I’ll post the NFL Draft breakdown below, which covers some averages and gives you an idea of which positions are typically targeted, for reference.
On average, over the 7 rounds of the NFL Draft, we see the following numbers of players taken at each position:
And here’s a breakdown by round:
