Maybe Coleman at LT since he played there in 2024, let Conerly keep developing at RT. We have good depth at least, but Tunsil would be such a huge loss. He’s one of the best in the business.

Tunsil has some history of minor injuries and receiving rest during camp without it impacting his effectiveness, so hopefully this is nothing more than that, but it is also a reminder he is on the wrong side of 30 and won’t last forever.

This is why I want to see Conerly on the left. If he can be our LT that would be huge.

If Tunsil is out I’d move Conerly over there right now, even if it’s a short time. See if he can play there. Coleman should be the RT. Issues at center and guard need to be sorted, but Coleman at RT is a quality answer.

I’d prefer to stick Coleman at LT, where he has played, and not have multiple people learning new positions.

If we moved Coleman to LT and Coleman to RT, they’re both learning new positions.

Coleman already has played LT, is competing for LG.

Obviously it depends on the severity of the injury and how long Tunsil might be out. If he’s gone for months (seems unlikely but who knows) then maybe you tinker with more things.

But if it’s not months, I think keeping as much of the status quo the same is best.

But it probably means Coleman loses the battle for LG to Paul if he has to take all the reps at LT. Which I can live with.

We just signed Tunsil to a massive extension for multiple years. He’s playing LT when healthy.

Having a solid backup is key.

But I’d leave Conerly on the right side to master that. He’s not there yet with one position, I’d like to let him master that before messing with his development there. Because that’s where he’s going to play for the majority of the next 3-4 years at a minimum.

I don’t remember who it was, but they flipped sides, and they said it was really hard because all the footwork is entirely backwards. I don’t know, never played or coached but that seems like a reasonable statement…

Hope Tunsil is ok, obviously. He's a vet, and a hell of a good one at that, so I'm not worried about him not being game ready if he has to chill for a few weeks.

Amos leaving on his first practice back gets a nice "wtf" from me. He had a broken bone 10 months ago, and now can't make it through a single practice? We're going to need him with Sainristil looking like his rookie year was a fluke and none of the other CBs inspiring a ton of confidence.

Catching up with Josh Taylor's video, he just watched practice

A. He's not the only one watching practice who thinks Sainristil has been meh, cited another dude who is doing videos wth the same observation

B. Rasual Douglas looks good, easily their best corner. Thinks Amik beats Sainristil for the job

C. Concerned about the center spot

D. Quan Martin playing a lot with the 3's, wouldn't be surprised if he's cut

E. Doesn't think Coleman gets shifted to LT, because he seems to be winning the guard position. Wylie not hot today subbing for Tunsil.

F. Chaisson and Oweh both with big camp

G. Main concern watching practice is whichever safety is playing next to Cross and if Sainristil has to start

H. K. Allen has a good day running today.

Just because we have Tunsil doesn’t mean we shouldn’t test what we have now. If the plan is to play Conerly at RT regardless during the season, that works. It doesn’t hurt to try him there for a preseason game for a drive or two to see what happens in a “just in case” scenario.

And yes, some linemen struggle switching sides. Others don’t. All depends on the individual lineman.

Good test to see if he can play on the other side.

They probably did call around, but they cut him several days before FA started with no replacement. Soon after they cut him at least 2 other starting centers decided to retire. Then they lost out on all of the FA centers. Badiasz also got a pay raise.

That sequence looks like a rookie move.

Maybe AP had a handshake agreement with Linderbaum before FA and the Raiders unexpectedly blew that up with a crazy offer. We’ll never know the behind the scenes thought process.

For what it’s worth, Conerly mostly played LT in college, Coleman played every OL position but C, so we should have some depth and flexibility there. My concern is their development, and I would think letting them focus on one position would be better for that, but I’m only speculating.

Hopefully we get good news on Tunsil’s injury soon.

Shouldn’t change much as far as development goes. More technique work on both sides (something they should do anyways). But understanding the scheme from both tackle spots can actually help with development as well.

We drafted him as a first rounder. We should see if the future at LT is on the roster.

No issue if he isn’t the LT of the future. But when we have some time to try it… why wouldn’t we?

If Quan Martin is cut, that wipes out the entire 2023 Ron Draft. Froes, Stromberg, Braeden Daniels, KJ Henry, Chris Rodriguez and Andre Jones are all already gone.

And the only draft picks from Ron's 4 drafts still on the team would be Chris Paul, Percy Butler and Sam Cosmi + Diyami Brown who is a boomerang.

Coleman winning the guard spot would be a really positive development.

Wylie playing LT isn't ideal though, but I'm not going to worry about that until we hear more about Tunsil's injury.

Sainristil not progressing, if true, is really troubling.

I like the RB room a lot. No big star, but all of them can do different things and I think that's going to work out ok.

The only reason would be to get him as many reps at the position he is going to play this year so he's as prepared as possible for this year. This is assuming Tunsil is coming back to play LT soon.

If Tunsil is out for an extended period of time, and the coaching staff thinks the "best 5" option in that case is Conerly, Paul, Allegretti, Cosmi, Coleman, then it makes all the sense in the world to try it.

I mean, the reporting is that they offered a market setting contract to Lindy and were outdone by a super market setting contract from the Raiders.

Also, I don't think the dollar tree AP this really apt. They paid Tunsil top of the market money, they threw more money at Pierce than he signed for in Indy, and they matched the offer for Doubs New England made.

The bigger problem is he couldn't get Lindy, Pierce or Doubs to take his money.

Voice_of_Reason Josh Taylor is a fan, who got a job with A-Z writing articles, now I think he's off on doing his own thing. Not saying his take is gospel. but his style reminds me of mine when I would watch camp which is to spill everything you see. Doesn't make him or i or whomever an expert but its hard to watch practice and get things completely wrong so i am interested in the thoughts of anyone watching practice let alone someone who watched all of them like him.

His points aren't it seems that far off of the beat guys covering the team with an exception or two.

One of his focuses is on who is playing with the 1's versus 2's. Seems like a minor point but its often telling from my experience watching camp.

Yeah, and from what I remember, we offered more than .1 over for Lindy because we knew the Raiders were going to Raider. We we made it rain also, but ours was more of a normal spring shower and the Raiders brought a hurricane.

It was funny. The reason I commented is there is a trend developing that AP and Peters are cheap. And I don't think that's necessarily true. I don't think they throw money around indiscriminately, but I also don't think they're cheap.

If we want spending stupid money, we need to bring back Snyder from 2000-2009. He'd throw stupid money at anything. The problem is he spent the money stupidly.
