2026 Commanders Training Camp

Gonna be a long training camp if the offense is basically practicing for when there's no center on the field.

The thing is Bates and SInnott are really the only two TE's who can block effectively.

Cutting the Greek Rifle would be a really bad look. They identified early and fell in love with him. I'm guessing he will be on the PS. If not they will need to find another and get over the Hartman affair.

Gublin has the smarts and characteristics to make the team as the backup C. If that occurs you can bet your arse they have a vet C on the PS and I doubt their name is Good-Jones
He was terrible in college I never got the pick anyway

From the posts and stuff i've been seeing, I don't think the QBs are running for their lives... the middle of the O-line has held up a fair amount

The Chief fans were pretty upset about losing him. Thought he was underutilized and misused.

I'm afraid he won''t get the play time he deserves here either due to all the good DL we have on the roster

It's good to have real action and to be able to get some idea of who is doing well. That being said, I don't believe how either the O or D looks playing against each other means anything, not even a little bit. The biggest thing that we need to come out of training camp feeling good about is that the players understand the offensive and defensive schemes to a much better degree than they did coming in. We can't control many things. We can't control our schedule. We can't control injuries. But we can control how well each and every player knows the offense and defense and can execute plays as flawlessly as possible.

Given new coordinators on both sides of the ball and the massive changes that entails, familiarity with the new offense and defense would be my biggest priority. I don't care which player beat which player and who made a spectacular highlight play. It means nothing. We will only start to find out what we have when real bullets start flying in September.

You sound like Alan Iverson ;)

Yes! We talking about practice. :D

I have to laugh at the kicker 'competition' - because we all know what will happen. One of these two guys is going to look like a world beater future kicking star and win the job outright. Then we'll get to the season opener and watch the winner of the 'competition' shank one, hit the upright, and miss a 37 yarder. It's just how these things go.

So yeah, we talkin' about practice lol...

I'm pulling for Stephens just because he has the bigger leg and I want a kicker to work out that we could lock in for seven years. Sounds like Moody is doing very well. I don't know given his history that he is more or less likely to be consistent in real games.

Moody was a former 3rd round pick. You don't pick a kicker in the 3rd round if you don't think they are a difference maker.

Maybe he isn't that guy, but if he can hit from 50 consistently, and 55 at league average, and nail everything inside 50, that's honestly good enough for me. I don't need the 60 yard leg.

I personally want a solid, clutch kicker.

Tom Brady does not go to his first SB without Adam V. They lose to the Raiders. Then Adam V. kicks the game winner.

I want clutch.

I think the smartest thing to look at with kickers is their history. Moody hasn't been a consistent kicker. His accuracy has ranged from 70-90%. That's a pretty wide range. Lifetime he is a 78% field goal kicker (97% on XPs). He wasn't great in his 2+ seasons in San Fran - with last year's stint with us representing the best he has kicked. He has never made a FG longer than 57 yards and has made 57% of his kicks from 50-57 yds. He has only made 65% of kicks from 40-49 yards. That's not adequate. I think that represents below average performance in today's NFL. You've got Dallas now with a kicker who routinely hits 60 yarders, so having a kicker who you can't really trust past the 40 yd line and especially from 50 yds and beyond isn't great.

I thought Jake did a very good job for us last season, but I'm not sure he is the best we can do at that spot. Neither does the team apparently and he may well lost this competition - we'll see.
