Thanks for this. I missed yhe game but heard good things about Magee but I had no intentions of watching a meaningless game where they got killed.

Ale Kaho looks really good. Speed doesn't pop on film but seems to get the job done and good at open field tackling.

Magee on the other hand doesn't really stand out on that video - maybe I'm just not appreciating the nuance but I don't see what all the fuss is about. Also, dude needs to get on the field more.

For the record I am not a Joe Whitt fan, he's never been a DC and that aggressive downhill defense we were promised never materialized. But I'm good with Quinn.

You make it sound like he's had a long track record. But he's been a DC for 1 season, that's it, just 1 season. Let's give him a second one before we typecast him.

Also...he did send Frankie Luvu a lot, and that guy is known for being aggressive and downhill. Let see what the defense looks like with better players who read action quicker.

Really? It seems the only thing Whitt’s been good at so far has been the press conferences, you might be the first person I’ve heard say that.

The guy’s been a successful assistant who developed secondary studs in successful defenses for a long time and finally got his shot from Quinn. I don’t think it’s our place to say whether he feel entitled to it or deserving of it until we have a sample size larger than one single season with a busted ass roster.

Our top 3 CB’s last year were three of the worst in the entire NFL, to say nothing of anything else.

I have plenty of questions about Whitt as a coordinator and play designer but none of them involve his attitude about the job or his effort.
 
I think our wide receiver and running back rooms will be a lot better this year. More weapons for JD5. Hopefully it's a more lethal offense

Im really excited about the run game. A little more explosive backs ( C rod and Bill), Oline appears better and add in the threat of Deebo, I think the run game should be good!

I enjoyed the little trip down memory lane, but just a quick note that his site doesn't actually really have moderators. There are some of us on staff which help with all kinds of things, but it's a very different way of running a site from the old site.

If something goes completely off the rails, a private conversation will be had, but that's about it.

Anyway, welcome to the site again. It's fun group. :)

That's my point. Whitt had no experience at DC, his only season in that role his defense was terrible. I could overlook that and blame the players if he had a long track record but he does not.

There’s only but so much you can do with no pass rush, undersized DL and bad corners.

Not vouching for Whitt one way or the other, but he was deserving of a shot. He came with a solid reputation. He even was entertained for a head coach gig with the Jets after last season.

I don’t get the angst for him at all, besides just expecting someone to turn chicken shit into chicken salad.
 
I think DQ will be more involved with the D than he was last season
