There was a little tidbit in the Washington Post this morning.

Brandon Coleman was supposed to sit out yesterday. That's what the coaches wanted, but the second year guard went to them and asked to play, said he needed some live reps. This is a kid changing positions and coming off an injury. Obviously, he's also a kid that get it.

Keim mentioned that he looked pretty good against the Ravens

In the past I would have been worried. But for some reason, with JD I just think it’s gonna be fine. With him on the field it just changes the dynamics of the whole team. He’s like a force multiplier.

I’m pessimistic, but I do take some comfort in this. Jayden is the kind of player who gives you a chance in every game.

If they lose to the Giants in week 1 there is just about 0 chance that they win 12 games again this season.

They have to win the easy ones, schedule is just too tough this year.

Giants may not be an “easy one”…and we didn’t exactly dominate them last year when they were.

It always amuses me how we all pick out the hard and easy games for the year. Meanwhile the NFL says “Hold my Beer”.

I
I don't pretend to know. I gather if there was one defintive approach everyone would be doing the same thing.

What I suspect happens is we lose the opener. I feel the GB game could go either way. If they beat NY I think they lose to GB. I think they start 1-1 at best.

Do I think not playing their starters (Jay style ironically) leads to a slow start -- yes, I do. But does that balance out for being fresher and better at the end of the season -- yes, I do.

On both fronts am guessing.

But lol since like you I hate the Giants -- I am braced for some misery in game 1. I don't think as i mentioned you can give the Giants a better opponent than Washington for game 1 -- perfect opponent for multiple reasons for them.
I don't see anything wrong with your logic for why the Giants might win, but I could also see us trouncing them.

This might be the year that our roster really matches up well against them. Our running game is the only part of the team that really looked good in the preseason games, and we have some real pass blocking horses on the OL now as well.

If we can shut down their pass rush and our running game flourishes, then I think we might win the game handily.

Also, I think there is a chance that our running game could be really great this year. Our OL is better. And I think Bill is going to be dynamic enough that it is going to be super hard to stop both him and Daniels in combination. This year, I think we really do see the running backs benefit from Jayden making life easier.

Wow, randomly stumbled across this place and seems like a lot of the OLD SCHOOL ES regulars are around here, feels like home already. How bout that Jayden Daniels rookie season?

I will always state that we have no idea how tough or easy the schedule is. 4-5 teams every year which are predicted to be at the top of the league end up not being at the top of the league, and 4-5 teams predicted at the bottom end up being better than that. We were an exaple last year, where if you played the schedule game in August, just about every other team would have put themselves down for a W against us.

The league is not only year to year, but it's week to week. It's not who you play, it's how you're playing and how they're playing when you play them.

I know I'm a broken record on this, but I've bee right about this point every single year since I started making it so far, so I'm going to keep saying it. :)

Welcome to the site!

Literally every year. Even every week.

How many times in the season does EVERY SINGLE talking head on every network pick one team to win a game and they inexplicably lose it? It happens at least 4-5 times a year. That might not seem like much, but that's an in-season pick for one game for one week with benefit of all the results and stats up to that point.

And predicting outcomes is STILL difficult.

Doing it before the season is a fun exercise but completely useless.

Make sure you do the mandatory 12 hours of HR and workplace safety videos...it won't let you fast forward to the quizzes.

Jumbo, is that you? ;)

Seeing Om, bulldog, and Die Hard’s names around here brought me back to the early 2000s.

With all that being said, really looking forward to the Bill Croskey era and Conerly Jr. seems like an absolute monster, a young Trent Williams if you will.

Defense still needs a ton of work, but very HIGH on Amos. Think he could be our future #1. He was an animal for Ole Miss.

Expecting playoffs this season but probably not a NFC champ game appearance. Those and more will come in the next few seasons though I feel. Was watching the Cowpukes documentary recently (actually pretty good) and was thinking man this thing might all really come together by the 4th season like Jimmy’s cowpukes.

Hope all yall have been well, wish ES had still been up and running through that glorious playoff run. Those Tampa and especially Detroit wins were something special.

Our LB depth this year is better than I thought it would be.

Jordan Magee just moves differently. If he stays healthy, he might be that AP 5th round pro bowl LB.

And Ale Kaho I think makes the roster. He is where he’s supposed to be, and when he arrives, the ball carrier goes DOWN. Love the physicality and instincts. You can tell that his speed hurts him a little on some of those coverage plays. He looks like a guy that could be a solid backup, especially on running downs. Did Kaho play special teams during the preseason?

For the first time in many years I feel pretty decent about our linebackers
