Tough one to call for a myriad of reasons. I will post the injury report later today when released. At this point I will hazard a guess going into the game.

Jayden Daniels- Questionable
John Bates- Out
Noah Brown- Questionable
Jonathan Jones- Out

Feel free to adjust your prediction as more info becomes available.

Rest days after 5 days off? Really?
yes and the one that stands out is Tunsil. There was some word of him being bad for the locker room in terms of prep and drive, maybe this is it. Maybe something to follow.

I missed Jonathan Jones' injury in the game. I guess he's not on the injury report since he was sent to IR. That's really too bad; he was someone I was really interested in this year, right or wrong.

On-topic: I really dislike Pete Carroll, but I worry he will influence his team/coordinators to prepare for this game well, based on what they saw from GB. I just don't think they have the horses to do that effectively. It wasn't just Parsons who hurt us, not by a long shot.

So I will predict MM starts at QB, and the Commanders do just enough to win. 20-17.

23-21 Washington. Matt Gay at the buzzer.

This team playing like they have been + a different QB starting makes a prediction just about impossible. I wouldn't bet money either way so Washington 20 Vegas 27

The Raiders aren't good, but the Commanders need to come out and play like they are angry & ashamed of themselves for the performance they had in Green Bay.

Also as far as JD5 goes. I know a lot of people say rest him, and obviously if he is too hurt/injured to play on Sunday that is what will happen, but by the same token I am not one that is in favor of rest for the sake of "it's a long season" if your best players pass all the markers and tests, they should play. I am fine with Mariotta in emergency situations but I also don't really trust him without a heavily modified game plan. He is a back up for a reason. I also think the roster turnover is showing because I think this team on paper is better than last season by a significant amount but we are seeing that when you are still relatively early in the process of building a team, those first couple of seasons are going to look sloppy in September as they get used to playing besides each other and truly becoming a team. Despite that I am picking the Commanders

Commanders 24
Raiders 17

Starting to question how much we can count on Coleman going forward, injuries happen but some dudes just cant seem to shake it, Coleman seems like he is always reporting to sick call. Its not like he is 30 years old (24), he's young.

They should just give him rest days. 😈

Wednesdays are always the vet rest days I believe (other than when games are earlier like TNF), having a 10 day gap doesn’t change how they approach the week, they don’t get more on-field practice in. They have more recovery time after the game, more film work.

And players don’t request/dictate them, Quinn and his staff decide who to preserve. And a lot of data points go into it, that’s part of why they partnered with that new health analytics group or whatever. They try to track muscle group fatigue to avoid soft tissue injuries and the like, and usually vets need the most caution throughout the season. Ironically it’s the one cool thing that Chip Kelly pioneered back in his Eagles run, because like us that was a high tempo hurry-up team.

People can get snarky about it after this year’s rough start but the way they preserved their veteran players last year led to us having one of the healthiest rosters in the league, and a guy like Ertz having the healthiest and most productive season he’d had in years.

It’s not always going to work out so well but when you’re as vet heavy as we are early in this build, it’s built in.

Such a bad situation. I don't see how you can risk playing Daniels. Mariotta played well last season but we were surprised at that and he has hardly been even practicing. The Raoders run defense is good, I am very very concerned.

Doesn’t Wagner usually have a rest day on Wednesdays, as well? He is 35 and the oldest starter on the team.

Quinn made it a point that they were doing a period of ones vs ones yesterday for 3rd down plays. Strikes me as odd that the starting LT and TE were not taking part after 5 full days off.

He does usually, yeah. Interesting, I wonder if Wagner doesn’t take them all since he wears the dot on D? Not sure

Brock Bowers is the big concern for me. Obviously we know he is very good, even against good defenses, but the way Kraft seemed to be open and straight up not even covered at times last week, and Wagner being a liability in coverage, I am not sure who on the defense will consistently be able to contain him. Add to that the pass rush is very hit or miss because it is by committee without a true game-wrecking DE or LB.

Geno Smith is one of those QBs that with a good pass rush I wouldn't be worried about, but he is competent enough that if he has all day to sit back and go through his reads, he is going to complete big passes.

I have since read that GB had some kind of strategy to flood the zone. There was an article that basically said GB sent +1 receiver into zones, and guaranteed an open man. Usually it was Kraft, but apparently two TEs were sent to the same zone.

Anyway, hopefully they have addressed this issue.
