2024/2025 Playoff Standings

If the Rams tank, do we counter the tank to play the Eagles by losing to the Cowboys so we don't play the Bucs? The Bucs destroyed both us and the Eagles.
For starters, you over think these scenarios, nobody is out here trying to play 3d chess as it pertains to matchups especially if it involves intentionally losing which teams rarely do they just might rest starters which lessens the likelihood of victory.

And Secondly we play at 1 and the rams play at 4 so unless you got a DeLorean with a flux capacitor kickin around we'll have a hard time matching there decision.

Waiting until 8:30 is torture. Sunday at 1:00 please If they play Saturday their opponent is on a short week too so not sure if it matters.

Yeah but we'd be the ones traveling, potentially across the country, while the Rams would be staying at home all week. I'm rooting for a Sunday matchup as well.

I am looking for efficient football. We haven't really played it yet. Not perfection, just efficient. Dallas gets paid to play also, even the younger guys. I want us to handle what they throw at us, all the adversity a game gives us and I want to see us, as a team, make adjustments and put to rest a team that shouldn't hang with us. Mistakes are still going to happen and Dallas has enough pride and being at home will throw a few things that will get us. All fine.

I want us going into the playoff game focused on what we're going to do, not worrying about what we can't do or hope we don't do.

The one caveat to who we would want in the first round does depend on whether hurts and picket are healthy.
I'm sure hurts will be back for the playoffs, concussions have a way of miraculously healing for star quarterbacks in the playoffs but if it were tanner McKee I'd be more inclined to want to play him than stafford.

Rams tryna push us into Tampa's arms it seems.

Such an odd decision throwing away a matchup against a rookie quarterback with no weapons and a sketchy defense to take on one of two 14 win teams both of which have powerhouse offenses loaded with weapons.
I think mcvay should be getting a little criticism for this especially if they end up having to play the lions or vikings.

Of course 'who you prefer to play' in the playoffs depends on a lot more than just the QB, but here's a 2024 comp between Stafford and Hurts.

Hurts throws more picks, but good lord, Stafford is one dimensional by comparison. 630 rush yds and 14 rush TDs compared to 41 yds and zero rush TDs and Hurts has nearly match his passing TDs with one less game. I just think Hurts is a far more dangerous QB and Philly is a much stronger team overall than the Rams.

one thing to keep in mind from the Rams perspective is, they had their bye week on October 13th. That’s a long time without a break. Comtrast that to us, our bye week was in December.

It could just be McVay knows his team could use a week off going into the playoffs, whoever they end up playing.

Getting a week off, both mental rest and physical rest, for a bunch of the starters might be more important to McVay than the eventual opponent. And he might honestly just not care that much between Washington, Detroit and Minnesota because you likely have to beat 2 of Detroit/Minnesota/Philly to get to the SB anyway. So when it happens doesn’t really matter.

I trust McVay to know his team and what they need

Why are we discussing playing the most talented team in football vs. a team with a -14 point differential for the season? This is a no-brainer, we want the Rams no matter who the Philly QB is.

I'll ask again because I'm still not sure, sorry for that. What do we need to happen to get the Rams if we lose on Sunday with regard to the other games? I had assumed the Rams game was the determiner but someone said the Packers so I need clarificaiton. Sorry again, I know I should know this by Saturday morning.

It’s kindof out of our hands.

If we’re the 7th seed we play the Eagles. Period. They’re locked as the #2 seed. #7 plays #2. We get the #7 seed with a loss to Dallas and a GB win over the Bears.

If we get the #6 seed, we play the #3 seed.

That could be either the Rams or the Bucs. Right now it’s the Rams.

However, the Rams are showing no interest in trying to beat Seattle, so they might lose.

The Bucs are showing interest in beating the Saints. So they might win.

If the Saints lose and the Bucs win, the Bucs get the #3 seed, Rams get the #4 seed.

We’d play the Bucs in that case.

All we can control is #6 or #7.

We can’t get to the #5 seed because that’s going to the loser of Lions vs. Vikings, who will have 14 wins. We can’t get there.

So who we play, Rams or Bucs, is entirely up to the Rams and Bucs assuming we beat Dallas. If the Rams win, we play them. If they lose and the Bucs win, we play the Bucs.

The team we don’t play would play the loser of the Lions/Vikings game.

So unless we can fix the Rams game, it’s out of our hands. We need to just beat Dallas so we don’t have to go to Philly immediately.

And yeah, Philly is better than the Bucs or Rams. I don’t want to go to Philly. Yet. Later? Sure. But GB can go there first.

We would need the packers to lose to the bears to maintain the 6 seed and then we'd need the rams who are resting most of their starters to beat the seahawks otherwise we'd play the bucs.

And no it is not a no brainer to want to face a super bowl winning quarterback with 380 career touchdowns and 60 thousand yards as opposed to a guy with 4 career passes.

It's debatable but far from a no brainer.

Thanks for this, sounds like we will play the Bucs most likely if we lose. So let's just win.

I don't think the Eagles will be playing a QB with 4 career passes, one or both of the others I would think would be available in 2 weeks.

HGas anybody paid any attention to Seattle the last several weeks?

Even though the Rams are not playing people, I bet they’re going to try and win the game with the players they have on the field. And McVay’s offense can be effective with people who know the scheme.

Seattle did try to win the game last Thursday against the Bears. And they did. 6-3. Against the Bears.

I think it’s not remotely out of the realm of Possibility the Seahawks actually try to beat the Rams at full strength and lose anyway. They fell off a cliff. The Vikings and Packers broke their soul.

Scoring 6 points against the Bears, even on a Thursday night, is appallingly bad.

Yeah I'm not giving this game to the seahawks yet just as I'm not giving our game to us but still surprised the rams aren't trying harder to get the 3 seed.

As I said, they had a bye week on October 13th. They r played every week since and I could imagine McVay just wanting to give the team a rest.

I also think he thinks his backups can beat this Seattle team.

And I also bet the he thinks they could beat San Darnold and the Vikings, assuming the Lions win the nfc north showdown.

Shrug. He’s confident and has playoff experience
