2024/2025 Playoff Standings

I'm sorry, I know I should know this but we need the Rams to win if we want to play them? How would we get the Eagles if the Hawks win? We lose to Dallas and the Rams win they get the tie breaker?

DQ has said we are playing to win. I expect us to try and get the 6th seed for a potential home playoff game.
 
One thing I hope, no matter what happens with the seedings, I really hope we don't get a Saturday playoff game. I want a Sunday game. I don't like having to play a playoff game on short rest. Even if it's just a day.

I poked around to see if I could figure out how they were going to select which games go where, and I haven't seen anything posted.

The networks always seem to put the Texans in the first possible spot on Saturday because nobody cares about that game, so my guess is, if it holds, Texans vs. Steelers will be the early game on Saturday.

The most marquis game goes to the Sunday night spot. If things hold, I think that's probably Green Bay @ Philly. If we're the 7 seed, it's probably us @ Philly. Ironically, I think if we play the Rams, I think that might be considered a "ho-hum" matchup and be put in the late spot on Saturday, which I would really hate. Because not only a Saturday game but have to fly cross country on a short week.

Anyway, this is ever so slightly off-topic as it's not playoff standings related, but playoff schedule related, but somewhat related...
 
Waiting until 8:30 is torture. Sunday at 1:00 please If they play Saturday their opponent is on a short week too so not sure if it matters.

I hated it back in the Gibbs II era, because it felt like we played the early Saturday game (4pm, if I'm not mistaken) in both 2005 and 2007. My issue with it was more about the fear of getting knocked out before anyone else even plays and it wouldn't really even feel like we were a part of the party.

I'd love for us to get that Sunday 1:00 game too, but if we do end up playing the Rams, this is guaranteed not to happen.

The odds of the 7 seed facing the 6 seed in the conference championship are extremely low, if that's what quinn is shooting for our analytics team has failed him.

no team is ever going to come out and say they'd rather face a certain opponent because it's not only fuel for the team you'd rather face but a confidence drain on your own team if and when you have to face the team you initially didn't want to, but make no mistake, rams in LA is a much easier matchup than the eagles in the place where it rains batteries and our coaches know that.

We're trying to win so that we wont have to face the eagles in the wildcard round.
 
I think it's as simple as wanting to finish as highly-seeded and on as much of a roll as possible. It seems like tempting fate/karma to try to get cute and position yourself for specific opponents. Keep winning and playing well, so that you can take care of your own business. The rest will fall into place.

I agree but do you risk injury to your starters so that you can have a Lloyd christmas chance at a home playoff game?

or do you do it so that you can face a rams team that's been struggling lately to score against average opponents in a stadium that could very well be overrun with Washington fans rather than travel to one of the most hostile atmospheres in the nfl and face what everybody knows is a more talented and dangerous opponent?

I say quinn wants to win because of the latter but it's only my opinion and it'll never be confirmed.

There's definitely that too but I still think behind closed doors there have been discussions on the advantages of facing a lesser opponent in a far less hostile environment.

Probably, but isn't that almost always the advantage of being a higher-seeded team? I suppose things could break the wrong way (if for some reason the Rams and Eagles were flipped in the 2/3 positions). But generally speaking, teams want the highest seed possible because they come with easier matchups.

Yes, that's all I was trying to say was that it most likely wasn't about the potential for a home playoff game as much as it's about quality of opponent in round one.
I'd imagine if the alternative was lions/Vikings we'd be more inclined to rest up some guys and focus on the playoffs.
 
If the Rams tank, do we counter the tank to play the Eagles by losing to the Cowboys so we don't play the Bucs? The Bucs destroyed both us and the Eagles.
