2024/2025 Playoff Standings

What the hell is 'Super Wild Card Weekend'.... is that like the regular wild card weekend, but the appetizers are fancier? Asking for a friend...
I think it's when the refs dress up like Whammies and throw sticks of dynamite instead of flags.

They rebranded it as super when they added the 7th playoff team and added 2 games.

Which made wild card weekend SUPER!!

I'm waiting for them to go to "Super Duper Wildcard Weekend".

It looks like the Rams are resting their starters. If this is the case I think we will most likely end up playing Tampa because they will get the 3rd seed if the Rams lose to Seattle. If Tampa wins, Commanders win, and Seahawks wins means Commanders at Tampa. I would rather play the Rams than Tampa.

I keep hearing references to the #6 seed affording the opportunity for a home playoff game. What has to happen for that? Beating Tampa and Green Bay beating Philly?

7 beats 2
6 beats 3
5 beats 4

Then

7 beats 1
6 beats 5

Then 6 would be home against 7 for Championship. Whoever those teams end up being.

If Washington is the #6 seed, they can get a home playoff game if they win their two playoff games (wildcard against the #3 seed and divisional round against the #4 or #5 seed) and the #7 seed (Green Bay) wins their two playoff games (wildcard against the #2 seed and divisional round against the #1 seed).

That would mean the NFC Championship game would be between #7 Green Bay and #6 Washington, which would take place in Washington (Landover, specifically).

In my "running into Sydney Sweeny at a grocery store" scale of probability, I would say this would be akin to running into Sydney at her local grocery store where she would be known to frequent from time to time. while wearing a pink sun dress and white flip flops. It really could happen, and it wouldn't be absolutely shocking. Running into anybody, even at their own grocery store, is rare, but I'll run into neighbors at mine fairly regularly. And Sydney has been known to wear pink sun dresses and white flip flops on occasion. At least, so I'm told. ** The dress code added for a specific reason, which we'll go into below.

This year, GB could absolutely beat Philly and then Detroit/Minnesota. The fact they haven't beaten any of them in 5 tries would lead you to believe it won't, but it could. The reason I added the dress code was simply because GB is 0-5 against Detroit, Minny and Philly, which makes the possibility of them any two of them on the road in the playoffs somewhat more unlikely. If GB had maybe gone 2-3 in those 5 games, I wouldn't add the added criteria of the dress code.

It's much more likely we could beat the Rams and then Tampa. I'd say we'd probably be underdogs in both games, so it wouldn't be likely, but neither team is super duper better than us.

Are rhe Rams looking to duck us and play Minnesota or Detroit?
I don't think they would try to duck us to get to a 14 win team. That's pretty insane.

However, I do think they'd like to rest their team regardless, and the game will be at home. Also, I'm pretty sure McVay believes they can beat Seattle in a meaningless game no matter what.

It is a little odd, though. If I were them, I'd prefer to play us than Minnesota or Detroit. One of those teams is going to be really angry coming off of a loss. If I were McVay, I'd try to avoid that, send the loser to Tampa.

But what do I know.

I agree that this seems to have more to do with what they feel THEY need to succeed in the playoffs than anything else. Personally, I think the Tampa matchup is better for Washington. LA is more explosive on defense and runs the ball better. While Baker is having a great year, I trust Daniels to outscore him.

Tampa is a very difficult environment for a road playoff game. It wasn't even a playoff game, but I still have PTSD from Alstott's elbow and a lot of other things that tend to go down in Tampa. I'd much rather have an unofficial home game against the Rams in LA.

Right now tickets for a Tampa road game are cheap as hell.
Might have to look at flights if we play them
