I can't imagine us looking past a team that beat us. For one thing, we're in the driver's seat only for so long as we win. The moment we lose one then math starts to come into play.

I don't think they'd "look past" them in the way it sounds. Like you, I can't imagine they think this is a layup. But, given that the Falcons game is critical regardless of the outcome of the Eagles game...they might be looking ahead to that game for those reasons.

Yes but that was to clinch this week. It's crazy that it is even possible for this team to clinch a playoff spot this week. NYG beating ATL - hmmm, so they won't be clinching, but it's pretty amazing that it is possible.

I was checking out the playoff machine, and if I plugged in this scenario correctly, I think another scenario that gets us in also, even with a loss next week, and in the following week:

Tampa loses tonight and next week.

Well, Dallas just winning actually helped us in some weird ways.

Now, we get into the playoffs with ANY of the following:
1). We win against Atlanta at home.
2). We win against Dallas in Dallas.
3). Atlanta loses at home to Carolina.
4). Tampa loses at home to Carolina.
5). Tampa loses at home to New Orleans.

It’s probably some of both.

I think it was more about the Giants sucking. Penix did nothing of note and had an underwhelming stat line. ATL had two defensive TDs which made the game look like more of a blowout than it was (from the point of view of ATL's offense). They were able to run the ball effectively against the Giants as well.

Cousins probably could have done the same thing as long as he limited himself to 1 INT instead of 3 or 4. He sucks at passing now, but he can still hand the ball off.

I wonder how Sheehan is handling the news. He did an entire segment years ago about how Mike Shanahan claimed Cousins was great and the most unlucky QB in NFL history.

They're not going to lose but we definitely would like them to.

Green bay losing improves our chances at the 6 seed and a saints win drops our 5th round pick down a hair.

The 6th seed would possibly have us playing the Rams instead of possibly playing the Eagles in the first round. Rams would be a much more favorable matchup IMO

Will Tampa send us gifts for eliminating Atlanta? Will we send Minnesota gifts for knocking Green Bay from the 6 seed?

Why do division winners automatically get the top 4 seeds even if their record is subpar compared to wild card teams? Why not give the division winners a guaranteed spot, but HFA should go to the team wiith the better record imo.
