2024/2025 Playoff Standings

I know it’s going to come down to the week 17 game against Altanta, but a loss tonight would have been a little more insurance.

A loss tonight would have meant we only needed one more win against any one of our 3 opponents and we were almost certainly in but as it stands we probably need to beat Atlanta in a one win scenario.
That said if the falcons looked that bad against the Raiders then it's entirely possible the giants or panthers could beat them but I sure as hell don't want to have to hold my breath week 18 praying for a panthers victory.

That game will come down to how this team plays. I mean, it always does. But we saw all three possibilities against bad teams recently. Play poorly against dallas and lose. Play really well all game against Tennessee and win convincingly. Play well early and go through the motions down the stretch late and have to pull out a win against New Orleans. It’s going to be all about how this team plays.

Yep. Every team left on the schedule *could* beat Washington. Dallas and Philly have already proven that, and Atlanta has shown the ability to score (at times). I don't see Atlanta winning the game though. They have looked horrible lately.

Beating the eagles would certainly be nice but it's not the critical game the falcons game is.
That said a victory over the eagles would possibly knock them down to the 3 seed which would be nice and it would allow us to lose to the falcons and still control our own destiny which would be really nice too. Little peace of mind

Dude, if we can beat the Eagles it would be cause for celebration. They should have beaten them the last game if they'd have done something in the second half.

Hopefully this offense can be more productive in the second half of games. That is the only thing that has been a consistent problem lately.

saw the Falcons benching Cousins going to Penix.

Well that might suck, but you never know.

Most of the rookie QBs this year played like shit their first few games.

Playing a rookie QB in their second start should be to our favor.

Except for one thing: We HAVE to stop the run. Because it doesn’t take a genius to figure out they will try to run the ball 40 times and throw it 15 against our putrid run defense.

If we can stop the run and force them to pass, just about any team should be able to confuse a rookie QB in their second start, at least a few times.

If we can’t stop the run, lee will lose the game unless we just simply put score them.

The run defense has to get better. Some way, some how. Lattimore should help somewhat can play more aggressively against the run.

I actually don’t know why the run defense is as bad as it is. The DL isn’t terrible. And Wagner and Luvu are both playing great.

It’s just been bad all year.

This move terrifies me because it’s going to basically force the Falcons to do the one thing we just stink at stopping.

Whitt had better figure out something and guys better strap it up because otherwise this season is going to have an extremely disappointing end.

It's possible our run D has just made a leap. It played well against Kamara anyhow. The ability to play Lattimore and Mikey on the outside gives them more freedom to stack the box if they want.

See, I think THAT'S the path to victory against this team. Just score. It doesn't mean you can't try to confuse Penix or you can't try to stop the run. But against the Falcons, Daniels could throw 4 TDs...this team can hardly stop anyone through the air.

Until the last drive when they let the backup rip off 8 yard run after 8 yard run after 8 yard run.

I hope you’re right. It will get a good test this weekend.

But I’m dubious.

I'm not sure that last drive is a true indication of the typical run defense. I do understand that you have to perform for 60 minutes, but in that frantic last drive I'm pretty sure the defense was keying on the pass so the Saints were trying zag to get a cheap 6-8 yards while also keeping the ball out of harm's way. I could be wrong though.

That said, I'd be much more concerned about the Atlanta run game than the New Orleans run game.

I hope the team isn't looking past the Eagles to the Falcons the way this board is doing right now.

A loss to the Eagles isn't really damaging and, at the moment, not unexpected.

A blow out loss though...

I can't imagine us looking past a team that beat us. For one thing, we're in the driver's seat only for so long as we win. The moment we lose one then math starts to come into play.
