2023 Washington Roster Moves

I’m fine with trading Gibson. It’s the lifecycle of a running back and he’s not likely to do more than bounce around and hope he can find somewhere where he is successful. But I’m not sure if this makes sense for the Ravens. It seems like they have 2 other backs (Hill and Mitchell) that are just like Gibson. You’d think if they traded for an RB, they’d want a splash. But who knows. If they give value in return, then take it.
 
Gibson was the middle round explosive back ST was talking about when he was drafted.
Scott Turner and now Bieniemy have failed to properly use him in either offense.
So how do you know that the staff will know how to use another mid round pick when they waste more draft capital on a position the OC seems reluctant to use?
Bieniemy’s aversion to backs and running the ball is on par with Ron and JDR’s aversion to linebackers..
 
I don't understand why Washington wasn't allowing teams to talk $$ with Sweat's agent. A deal in principle could potentially yield Washington a late #1 or early #2 pick or picks combination with another in the mid-rounds.

Doesn't seem as if this administration knows how to move nimbly to make trades, sign free agents or work the draft to get value picks.

Ron and Co. are painfully slow to react to the market and they are never proactive in setting up deals the way that Andy Reid set us up for the Donovan McNabb and Alex Smith trades.

no argument here, i just think that chapter has been closed for one reason or another.

I'm 100% basing my point on the fact that this staff isn't he one pulling the strings at our next draft day party.
 
Perhaps the Washington offensive line has shown in enough of a sample size that they can't move a defensive front off the ball and it won't be productive to use the running game as anything other than a change of pace for the offense.

When Howell throws for 3 or 4 touchdowns you see Robinson gain 5.0 yards per carry as he did on Sunday, with 59 yards on 10 carries.

In games where Howell is not playing well and the team needs a running game we see our 3 running backs run for a total under 80 yards combined with a 3.1 yards per carry average or similar.

This line is weak and cannot impose its will on a defense.

That's the reason we see Howell throw touchdowns of 2 and 3 yards in a number of games. The team can't depend upon the line and runners to punch it in.

Hate to see Sweat go but I understand. My only lament was he never had had the coaching to realize his potential
 
It will be interesting to see if he "explodes" in Chicago.

It isn't like they have amazing coaching there either though.

Honestly, not sure why Chicago is trading for a guy now. They aren't in contention for a playoff spot and they just gave up a 2nd for a 27-year-old guy who is a FA in 5 months.
 
Kind of a curious trade partner and for a 27 year old that’s a big pick to give up. I love Sweat and I’d rather they have moved on from Young, but truth is that’s probably more than teams were offering for Chase.

Had to do something. Feel bad for Montez - cold weather and not much football hope in that town.

Yeah, I think most of us would have preferred us to move Young, but that's why people most likely wanted Sweat.

With the current standings, that Bears pick is #35 overall.

If the draft were held today, Washing would have #11(1), #35(2), #43(2), and #75(3) in the first 3 rounds.

And now we have one less player in mix to be Franchise/Transition tagged.

Guess this means that KJ Henry gets into the DE rotation?
