2021 Roster Updates

He knows the guys - just like he knows Curtis Samuel - was that a bad signing too?
Do I have to say one is bad in order to say I am not a fan of him bringing everyone from Carolina up here?

That doesn't seem like a fair scenario.

I'm not sure why bringing in a couple potential backups for depth, one of which has been here before, suddenly tips the scales? Is pointing out he was FIRED as if that's all he accomplished in Carolina fair? Yeah - he didn't win a Super Bowl. But he got to one. Why the snark?

Not trying to start an argument - it just seems like a weird time to be negative. We just had a very good free agency imho.

It's players and coaches.

There is no snark. He didn't win the super bowl. It's a fact. You coach to win it all, not to win a few games.

He's brought in more than a few. It's been several people from the organization brought in here. I am not sure why you're defensive about facts, but that's all they are.

I don't think it's unfair to have a level of frustration with the first question about every player is if they've played in Carolina... it's an accurate narrative, and I'm a huge advocate of bringing in Samuel. In a vacuum the moves are meaningless but with the overwhelming majority of the additions being on their 2nd term with Rivera it can get tiring.

Whatevs, not in the mood to argue. We’ve got a lot of good things going on and it’s almost entirely due to Ron Rivera. Now that’s a fact.

You say it’s tiring, I say it’s working.

It's a pain in the butt narrative. If it works then fine, but it has its moments at times to seem excessive.

That said over the last 12 months very little impact has been had by these moves as far as players go... the concern is that better options possibly being overlooked. Thus far it may not be, and again I love the Samuel signing...

When George Allen was first hired, he brought so many Ex-Rams with him that folks referred to the team as the RamSkins.
Joe Gibbs brought Jim Hart and Doug Williams here because he'd coached them before, knew them.
It's what coaches do.....

Have any of your ever worked for one company, left that company for whatever reason, then wanted some of your old coworkers who were good to join you because you knew they would be valuable assets? I have. I left my job about 10 years because it was a miserable place to work. So many people I couldn't stand, but there were about 5 people I would have hired in a heartbeat if I could have at my new job. A lot more that I would have taken too. You work with people and you build up a good rapport with them and you look out for each other in the future.

I said it earlier, I don't care where a guy played previously, who they played with, etc. If they can play and they can improve the team, that's what I want. Outside of Samuel, who was great last year, I don't know a thing about these other guys. Maybe some people know all about them, but I'm suspecting most fans know littler about them other than a team they played for in the past that Rivera coached. And Ron along with the coaches and GM are the people paid to make the decisions and the people responsible for the decisions made. They do know about them and know what they can do. That is what matters and we will find out if they can play.

I know... and I never said he was a bad coach or anything, i just said I can sympathize with the segment of the franchise that rolls their eyes when the first comment following a lot of these signings is "and he played before... you guessed it".

I understand the function of players that have a history with a coach and their system, and the vast majority of these players have little effect on field to this point so its impact is minimal.

Not one time did anyone say they were bad or we only wanted one thing.

Of Rivera’s 21 assistants, 13 were with him at his previous stop.

Since hiring Rivera, the Redskins have added Allen and three other former Panthers to the roster: linebacker Thomas Davis, linebacker Jared Norris and tight end Marcus Baugh. Rivera also tried to sign Greg Olsen.

Now take in to account the new ones. You can call it whatever you want, he's retreading instead of looking for fresh talent.

Nick Sundberg joined John Keim on his podcast and talked more about his injury issues. May shed a big time light on why Rivera and co decided to move on. A tricep injury likely has a HUGE impact on the ability to snap a ball to a punter with the amount of zip needed. I hate to see him go, but this makes a little more sense.

I don't think Rivera did it for money or spite. That injury is huge for a long snapper. I am glad he gets it as well.

The WFT media team continues to impress... and Terry Mclaurin approves

and another LB off the board... this was my guy. Anthony Walker signs a very inexpensive deal with Cleveland.

I wonder if he his salary is so low because it's a 1 year deal, and other teams may have given a similar salary but multi year deal... and Walker opted to go 1 year and try FA again after the cap rebounds next season.

Juju staying in Pittsburgh, reportedly on a 1 year deal

he told all of them he was leaving...

THAT is why I wasn't overly keen on him coming here. Dude is just dramatic.

yeah and i bet he had no attention at the number he wanted which is why he's going back.

WOW! 1 year $8 mil and he had offers from Baltimore AND KC and said 'no thanks'

The only thing I can think of is that those other two teams wanted multi year deals at a discounted rate and he opted to take less money and try again next year for his blockbuster deal?

Edit: I was wrong... there simply was no real market

We gave Samuel $11.5 and Juju couldn't crack $10mil...
