2021 Roster Updates

The Ryan Fitzpatrick signing suggests to me If he was let out the door in New England, Cam Newton would have landed in Washington and was target 1A at the QB position this offseason.
Disagree.

Rivera has had multiple opportunities to bring Cam here and has passed.

IMO, the Fitz signing says to me that there is a Qb in this draft that they like and if he's there, they will take him. Whether at 19 or further down in the draft.
If my guess is right, Fitz makes the perfect bridge Qb.

Well Denver thought Darby was worth more than a one year deal at good money for a guy that has trouble staying healthy.

I agree though that one year will be the trend for most good players.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Scherff play out on the tag.

Washington doesn’t want to pay a 29/30 year old guard $16-17M a year with guarantees over the next 4-5 years.

The team should have locked up Scherff before the 2019 season.

Who threw that? Has to be Taylor, right? If they have an assistant that can do that, put a jersey on him.

lol it could have been Taylor. Ball went about 40 yards in the air if the QB was standing on the goal line.

Curious. We don’t resign Darby and Louis but we do resign Hopkins who had a rather weak 2020 season.

If we are not going to overspend for continuity that’s fine but why keep a kicker at his age that seems to be trending in the wrong direction?

Hopkins cost < $ 2 mil on a 1 year deal

Darby and KPL combined for $14mil apy over multiple years (3 year deal for Darby, 2 year deal for KPL)

Hogs Haven reporting we're in contacts with Curtis Samuel's agent and multiple teams are bidding... fwiw.

So that's interesting... if it's true...

It was more about the timing of the throw. It was pinpoint precise. Whoever threw it has a QB background. It was a fantastic throw and I guess I’m just hoping it was Heinicke.

Sounds like the Jets were trying to keep another player in the ring...

Washington would have offered the pick by now if they were interested in Darnold.

Rivera wanted a guy he knew could throw the ball in the NFL and execute the offense.

Fitzpatrick at 37 is a bit older than desired but when Stafford went for all those picks Rivera knew the younger passers like Watson and others would be exorbitantly expensive and punted on a long term solution via trade.

The team will look to play the long game in the draft by taking a younger qb with upside.

Washington signs CB William Jackson to a 3 year - $42 mil deal

Cool article related to Jackson's 2017 season. The guy certainly has some game in him. Will be intrigued to watch him play behind our defensive line.

Talk about shutting the ‘we let Ron Darby go’ critics up... He’s 28 years old. Not a big guy, but easily the most talented corner we’ve signed in many years. Defense up one more notch tonight. We spent here but likely a great one to spend on as guys with his talent are hard to find.

So much for the idea Ron doesn’t care who he has at corner...

Now get us some solid LBs and a WR and we’ll be cooking...

Assume he's a 'camp body' type that has a chance to come in and be a versatile type of weapon.
