Meh. Backups are a dime a dozen. Not a big believer in 'grooming' one at the expense of another roster spot that might actually see the field in 2014. I'm hoping someone's interested in McCoy and that's why we held onto him.

Good enough where if they wanted to trade Morris, I wouldn't lose a second of sleep. I don't believe they will, because I don't believe the FO feels that we have any huge holes.

Had this been a year ago, where we did have a ton of holes and Redd appeared out of nowhere, I would have then expected the FO to shop Morris.

Hate to belabor this, but thank God you aren't the GM. Morris is a special back, worthy of a lot more reapect than he's given in some corners. Redd looked good in spots and perfectly average in others, all against third teamers. Amb I the only one who remember the magic of 2012 when Griff was healthy? If you really think we could have subbed in Redd for Morris without a letdown, I don't know what to tell you.

I guess it's possible. The difference is I KNOW what we have with the Butler, whereas with Redd we're guessing.
 
I don't think it's a matter of dissing Morris.

It's a matter of depth and taking some of the load off Morris.

Some folks bring up Helu, who seems like a good back but he has durability issues also.

I believe Redd is the closest thing to Morris as far as skill set goes and gives Alf a quality backup.(which I believe will be proven over time)

When's the last time this team had that? Gerald Riggs backing up Byner?

And I would also like to add....

Redd has looked a whole heckuva lot better than:

Marcus Mason
Sultan McCullough
Jesse Lumsden
Jon Settle

Ect............
 
Here's what I don't get

Skins fans always want homegrown players, bargain priced players, and productive players.

But when we get one we automatically talk about dumping him for something "better"

Is it the grass is always greener?
 
Yeah, Morris was a steal in the 6th a couple of years ago. Come on - this is not the Vinnius Cerratus Mock Draft playground.

Seahawks front line really not that good in pass protection.
Skins had their shot at Winston a long time ago if they were really that interested.

Morris was a sixth round pick.

It's always hard to imagine a sixth round pick immediately becoming the starter. After all, the sixth round pick only played in preseason games, mainly against scrubs. Who can put any stock into that? Thank God Morris became the starter. We were guessing on him too.

It's expected that people have the same feelings about Redd.
 
Shanahan was known for finding good running backs..ala Terrell Davis.

It was not luck at all he found Helu and Morris.

Morris has proven it that he can run in the pros...redd hasn't.

We do want those. But if by chance we have two players with similar talent at the same position, it can sometimes make sense to fill a glaring hole elsewhere.

Also, Morris is going to be very expensive next season. He's in the final year of his contract.
 
You like to gamble too much against sure things for my taste. I'd rather keep a true proven guy then hope we don't end up with another Trung

Is it at least possible that like Morris, Redd was an incredible steal, also has great character, and can also crush against starters?

Like Morris, we won't know until given the chance.

Starting Morris was also a huge gamble.
