2014 Cuts, Releases, and FA Signings

Under the new rules, Gettis is eligible for the practice squad. Under the old setup he would have too many games on the 46 game day roster.

What are the new PS rules, besides bumping it up to 10 players ?

And would that affect Nick Williams ?
He's having a great preseason, but I was concerned he not only wouldn't make the 53 man roster, but may not be eligible for the PS, at least not under the old rules

Do we really consider sending him to the PS? He's part of the 'old regime' and if i'm Gruden, I've got no real reason to keep him around? Nothing against him, but it would be a peculiar decision to assign him.

Nick Williams would qualify for the PS. New rules - I think it is a year or less of being on the active day roster of 46.

No. If a player cannot survive until at least until the final cuts, then it would make little sense to expect the team to sign him to the PS.
There's one more round of cuts.
If a team has interest in a player going to the PS, you can be sure that they will wait until the final cuts to keep him around.
For one thing, they want to keep him around as long as possible, to keep another team from signing him.
And two, if he really is that good, to be considered for the PS, then he should definitely be talented enough to make it through the "preliminary" rounds of cuts.

So I wouldn't expect Gettis (or anyone cut in this round) to be back......barring some some major, unforeseen circumstancial new developments, of course

I agree, BB just posted Tandlers tweet about Gattis' eligibility. I was more questioning the tweet, curious if he was eluding to us putting him on the PS.

Rashad Ross.

I hope we send him to the PS... hard to imagine it happening but ya never know. He looked good in limited time in preseason and was the lead blocker on the outside on Seastrunks big run this preseason.

Nick Williams beats out Rashad Ross......so far.
Go Nick !

I'm in, like McGlynn.......or not......more like, McGlynn is out, like gout

In the words of Emmit Smiff, McGlynn got blowed up, by the Ravens. He's made Montgomery look like a probowler.

Is it possible to upgrade our O line with some of the castoffs from other teams? The bottom 2 guys shouldn't be hard to replace with an upgrade. I haven't been impressed with O line as much as I would have hoped...

Seems like if you have a particular need, you would wanna find out which team has that position as the strongest in the league, and watch their cuts.
Like if you need O-line help, determine which team in the league has the most talented O-line, and watch their cuts, because they're more likely to be cutting quality guys at that position, than any other team, of course.

Mentioned in chat last night that Crawford played his way out of a job and that was reflected in the final BBQ prediction. Not surprised.

Crawford said that he is PS eligible and hopes he can be there.

Redskins cut Ted Bolser. The Greenwood Football Recreation Association in Greenwood, IN is interested in signing him.

Does the Crawford cut mean that Minnifield most likely makes it ?

Have no idea who they are.
Is that a joke ?
Or do you mean signing him on staff, as opposed to playing ?

Tis a joke.

I didn't have Chase Minnifield making the team, but on the PS. We just have to wait and see.
