14th Annual BGO Ballers Fantasy Football League ***SkinsOrlando Champion***

Ideally my constant waiver activity ends up paying off. Definitely have a few missing pieces, but may have gotten enough for the late season push I need to make the playoffs.

But hey, i have a 190-ish game, so there's always that
 
This is going to be a make or break weak for the playoffs, a lot of teams vying for a spot with one week to go with Fear locking up the top seed already.
 
Well apart from that one good week against Derek's team, my season has been a disaster.

My main issue... I picked the Washington Defense, and I picked Joe Burrow.

Washington let me down badly.

My back up QB was Howell, and at the start of the season Burrow was awful and Howell put in some awesome performances. So I switched them... Just has Howell slumped a bit and Burrow took off. So I swapped them again... and the Howell took off and Burrow got injured (I had Howell on the bench when he exploded for 40 points! in week 8!). So I switched them back and...well we've seen what happened the last few weeks! LOL

Then there was week 10 when I lost due to an inexplicable 52point performance by Dak Prescott!

I am truly the Ron Rivera of Fantasy Football. LOL
 
I'm having one of those dream seasons where it doesn't seem to matter what I do, it works out. I did have great draft position and was able to get a lot of the players I coveted. I also got lucky with a couple players who were hurt early but came back and produced big - such as Jonathan Taylor.

Thing about FF is, doesn't matter what you do in season. If you can get to the playoffs, all you need is to get hot a couple weeks in a row.

If I don't finish this season, I flat out suck :)
 
Injuries definitely took its toll at the QB position this year, I vomit that Hurts is on my team but thankfully he stayed healthy. If I had to do it over though, Ja'Marr Chase has not been worth the #2 pick by any means.
 
So here is where we stand before the last week of the season.

Boone has clinched a playoff spot and a bye in the first round.

SkinsOrlando has a 1 game lead on a gaggle of players

SkinsFanPip has a 1/2 game lead on that same gaggle

The gaggle of players at 7-6 are as follows: Canadian Hog , Neophyte , ZeroAnd16 , jmsully4, and Kel Varnsen

Only the top 6 get into the playoffs

The default tie breaker on Yahoo is best record vs opponents, but I have no idea what the scenarios are. So just win this week and you will give yourself a chance to get in. You may get lucky and back in or unlucky and win and still not get in. There are no head to heads against the 7-6 team. Only Kel Varnsen and SkinsOrlando will play head to head, but with his 1 game lead, SkinsOrlando may have some breathing room depending on the other games.

Thanks Boone for posting that. For all players with games this week, please note the schedule. There is 1 game on Thursday, 3 games on Saturday, then the full Sunday schedule, with a final game on Monday night. Don't forget to check your players status on Saturday if you have a decision to make.

Yes indeed, this was definitely a year of fantasy. Injuries hit everybody at interesting times...the ones who got good timing are in the playoffs.

I was laughing at having more top receivers than pretty much any other team (2nd, 10th, 13th, 14th as of right now), had 2 top 10 RBs last week (looks like some bumping happened over the past week to knock them down) but it didn't matter because they stunk it up at inopportune moments. Ol' Derrick Henry was 2nd best RB last week for the season, and had just put up a 2 pt stinker the game before.

Fantasy does what it does though. It was fun enough, and good luck to those left standing.
 
As I’ve done previously, after leading the league in the regular season, I’m ousted in the playoffs. I came close to pulling out a comeback in the waning minutes last night but couldn’t finish the job. The only move I made last week, replacing Miami’s defense with the Bengals cost me the match. Of course Amari Cooper’s nearly 50 pts didn’t help! And I’m even less a fan of Patrick Mahomes than I was as his poor play over the past several weeks has been a killer.

Congrats to SkinsOrlando and to SkinsFanPip for getting to the final. Good luck in the Championship game :cheers:

I’ll be surprised if anyone in any league lost with Cooper. That is one of those performances that wins playoff matches. You came real close which would have been quite amazing.
 
Thanks again to all for a fun season! I knew leaving Pickens on the bench with 36 points was the beginning of the end for me and it was the difference. I gave that guy a long leash all season long and when I finally bench him, he produces. So frustrating.
 
Congrats to SkinsOrlando for winning the 2023 BGO Ballers fantasy football league. He won it all from the 5th seed proving that all you need to do is get into the playoffs and then anything can happen. The key players this week were Jalen Hurts, James Connor, and the Cleveland defense who combined for 67 points.

Finishing second was SkinsFanPip who had another outstanding year.

Canadian Hog was able to top Boone in the 3rd place game.

Thank you to all who played this year. Be on the lookout for the for the invite around the time training camp starts in 2024.
