Week two is in the books and now we take a look at how the entire team fared against the Rams. It was a great contest if you like solid play and attention to details. There was a shaky few minutes in the second half, but we will try to make some sense of it all as BBQ hands out grades and evaluations. Feel free to offer your own grades, evaluations, and opinions. Also, we have some questions to close out week two.

Week Two Grades, Evaluations, Questions

Week two is in the books and now we take a look at how the entire team fared against the Rams. It was a great contest if you like solid play and attention to details. There was a shaky few minutes in the second half, but we will try to make some sense of it all as BBQ hands out grades and evaluations. Feel free to offer your own grades, evaluations, and opinions. Also, we have some questions to close out week two.

Let’s take a look at the grades.

Quarterbacks:
Kirk Cousins got his second straight start in the young 2015 season and while he did have one pass that should’ve been an interception, his play was steady and cool. It was his finest game in a long time.
Grade: A-

Running Backs:
Matt Jones! Alfred Morris and Matt Jones are rapidly becoming quite the duo – some are starting to call it MoJo. On Sunday, it was the Matt Jones Show as he rushed for two touchdowns and more than 120 yards. Chris Thompson provided a crucial third down reception of nine yards to keep a drive alive.
Grade: A+

Wide Receivers:
The wide receivers had a good day, but not like the rest of the offense. Pierre Garcon added a tough short yardage touchdown and Ryan Grant had a few key receptions.
Grade: B

Tight Ends:
Is this the beginning of a trend? Has Jordan Reed finally hit his stride and overcome the injury bug? He was Mr. Clutch on Sunday. Derek Carrier and Anthony McCoy were monsters in the blocking schemes, especially with the three tight end sets to the left side of the line.
Grade: A

Offensive Line:
After excellent first game for the entire unit, now we can make it two for two. The powerful Rams front four had a few moments, but the Redskins running game enjoyed massively-sized lanes in which to gain significant yardage. Kirk Cousins had plenty of time in the pocket for the most part.
Grade: A-

Defensive Line:
The defensive line mirrors what the offensive line was able to accomplish in a virtual repeat of last week. They continue to be active in four and three man fronts. The Rams running game was nearly shut down and had Nick Foles off balance for much of the afternoon.
Grade: A

Linebackers:
It was another stellar game for the linebackers as they provided the heat and did well in coverage. Keenan Robinson had an impressive tackle for a six yard loss in the open field, but it was negated by the Redskins accepting a Rams penalty.
Grade: A-

Cornerbacks:
While this unit did have a breakdown on one long touchdown for the Rams, they had another good outing. Kyshoen Jarrett is the real deal and after asking coaches in the preseason if he could play nickel corner, he got that wish on thirty-nine snaps yesterday and played well.
Grade: B+

Safeties:
A solid outing by Dashon Goldson and Trenton Robinson as the secondary enjoyed an afternoon of successful coverages and limiting any potential long runs.
Grade: A-

Special Teams:
Tress Way was excellent on directional punting and the Rams return game was non-existent. Dustin Hopkins could be the real deal. A forty-six yard field goal with ease. Extra points featured zero drama. Four of five kickoffs sailed through the end zone. The other went eight yards deep into the end zone and was only returned to the twenty. The return game had no glaring mistakes, but had nothing to celebrate as well.
Grade: B+

Coaching:
The offense was great in the running game and steady/good in the passing department, especially at tight end. The defense is rated number one in the league, pending Monday night results. Special teams did a great job and the place kicker situation could be solved. The game plan was excellent and executed to near perfection.
Grade: A

How would you grade each position and the coaching staff? Again, do you like the new defensive coordinator thus far? How about that defense?! Are place kicking woes now a thing of the past? Are you encouraged by the kicking change? How did you like the play of our offensive line this week? On to game three. Remember, it is a Thursday night game.

See you again next week with grades, evaluations, and questions.

Hail to the Redskins!

I'll go with your grades BB, save coaching.

The "A+" I would have given them, became a B for the 4 minute lapse in the middle of the game. Basically taking a knee with 2 minutes before the half was a clear case of Vaginal itch by Gruden. Yes, I understand the intent, but it didn't have to look so obvious, or pussified. Then the 1st 2 minutes of the 3rd when Pass Happy Jay almost made an ill advised return. Taking the shot on 1st down was fine. But he should have gone right back to the run on 2nd. Which could have possibly made running on 3rd an option.

Not fatal. But concerning. Best game Gruden's had since he's been here. Need to see it consistently moving forward.
