Snyder: Redskins have ‘started the process’ of planning a new stadium

I don't buy it for a second. I don't think Snyder has any interest in dealing with the buffoons in DC. Northern Virginia will be the new home - I guarantee it.

I am with you, but I didn't feel like arguing with him. He seemed adamant about it.

Va makes the absolute most sense. When the list of senators came out who voted FOR the name change... The Va reps were not on that list. The DC Council has mentioned being in FAVOR of the name change. Redskins Park is here, training camp is here, the players live here, and there is a lot of money here.

PERSONALLY I'd love to see it down town, but September and October would be a nightmare trying to access the stadium... The Nats are building a team for the future which (hopefully) means playing meaningful games throughout September and into October. NHL starts the first week in October, and the Caps always draw. The NBA starts the last week in October, and the Wizards seem to be building a contender, so there is a possibility for a lot of Metro problems. I know people have been clamoring for Metro access but it could get really ugly if things go the wrong way.

My concern is if Dan Snyder is dealing with the devil? I am concerned he is going to build a new stadium and get a Super Bowl at the expense of the Redskins name.

I know he says he will never change the name....but money talks.

I hope and pray I am completely wrong.

I hadn't thought of that... you think the NFL would say to him... keep it out of the news, change the name and you get the first SB after your stadium is completed

Terry McAuliffe is barrel-bottom slime but, to his credit, said his job as Governor wasn't to have a voice in the name of a football team.

Nick, your posts always cut right to the core...they make me laugh, too.

Be careful what you wish for. As mentioned above, new stadium means PSLs, the biggest rip off in sports. I was hoping that by the time the Redskins were ready to move to a new Stadium, PSLs would be a thing of the past. We are not there yet. If you have plenty of money, good for you.

Do we know for a fact that would be the case? I'm not particularly knowledgeable, but it seems like that might just be an assumption?

Just did a quick check. The 49ers new stadium is the newest I know of.

They've got a fancy website where you can buy and sell the PSL's so they're not yet a thing of the past.
San Francisco 49ers SBLs - Learn more about San Francisco 49ers SBLs Seat Licenses at PSL Source

Of course, seats comparable to my seats at FedEx are lower level club, so their face value per seat per game is $350. And the PSL's are yours for the low low price of $75,000 per seat.

Yes, this is the owner's asking price for the PSL, not the original cost to the owner, nor necessarily the price that the they'll sell for, and the 49ers are a winning team with what appears to be a solid future, but even an insultingly low lowball offer on those would be way out of my price range.

It's gonna end up in VA. MD is pushing big business out so Snyder is probably going to follow suit. Which sucks because it's a 20 minute ride to the stadium for me...being on the north side I can get in and out rather easily.

I just hope it's within sight of the city if they cant put it down IN D.C... Where? No clue.

Anacostia Park across the river from the Nats Stadium, but I think the very ideal place would be Oxon Hill Farms. It is directly across 495 from the National Harbor with its World Class Hotels (Gaylord and the new casino), less than a river mile from Nats stadium and its in PG County.

3 things come to mind when thinking of this location...National Harbor, Nats stadium and Redskins' new stadium all on the DC, MD VA border.

Snyder would be able to work with PG County to save from paying off the stadium lease. There is still 15 years left on that lease I believe.

With the Gaylord across the highway and Olde Town Alexandria across the river, it would be a very attractive location for the Super Bowl.

It's an ideal location for the MD, DC and VA fans. They would have 295 north, 495 north and 495 south to get people out of the stadium.

The Peoples Republic of Maryland can suck eggs. So can the District of Marion Barry.

Virginia is the way to go.

Yeah but like you said... It'll most likely end up in VA. Oxon hill park would be awesome with the airport due north of there. Metro access would be the only struggle.

If you look south of there, there is an are north of Pohick Bay that has the real estate, and the train tracks run almost right through it. The Blue line ends just north east of there and it appears like it could be added onto to run straight to the stadium. That would give you Metro access, with a 1 stop jump to the Springfield/Franconia metro. Both with quick access to Fairfax County Parkway, Route 1 and I95. It would also be in proximity to the Potomac.

If it came to VA, that's about the only place I could see it working.

ST, I have the feeling Snyder is willing to break ties with MD altogether. The move of the TC to Richmond and his success down there suggests there may be some thought of moving toward Fredericksburg. That would be a frigging disaster! The infrastructure along 95 through central VA is so poor! I would never attend games down there.

Yeah that would be the worst idea ever. Like I said, I at least HOPE the stadium is within eyesight of the city. Ft Belvoir / Pohick Bay area would do that, so would Anacostia Park, or Oxon Hill Farms. If it heads further south then Woodbridge, it would be a travesty.

Damn I didn't think NoVa had room for a stadium, and all the congestion it brings

Google search Pohick bay, and look just north, to the area just west of Accotink Bay. The land is there and that's not part of the Park. It does border Ft Belvoir, so i dont know how that would work out.

Wherever they put it, there had better be a radisson with a bar and a parking lot for us to pretailgate in!
