Smith deserves at least twice what Haynesworth got, but I would send a serious message. He was clearly not trying to "break things up," he was in there stirring up the pot. As a head coach, he has NO business doing so, and should have the max fine thrown at him.

I'm disappointed Haynesworth got fined that much. That's pretty ridiculous. Coming to a player's defense HAS to be allowed. As for Landry, watching the slo-mo replay, Ryan's feet had not yet touched down OUT OF BOUNDS when he was hit. That shouldn't even be a fine. It was bad enough they called a penalty and that should have been punishment enough. The NFL has become fine-happy.

Jimbo, to play devil's advocate, would you feel the same way if the same hit had been by Ed Reed on Jason Campbell?

Good. It almost looked like at one point that Smith took a half ass swing at DeAngelo. Hit him in the purse.

And you know, good on Albert for coming in there knockin a few Falcons back to their sideline

Am I the only one that thinks that a head coach in the NFL is and should be held to a higher standard as a leader? Smith IMO should have been at least suspended from one game as well.

Am I the only one who thinks Hall should be as concerned about his level of play on the field as he apparently is about how he was treated by the Head Coach of his ex-team?

Reed would have gotten to Campbell before he reached the sideline.

HAHA...I was gonna say the exact same thing!

To be perfectly honest, I'm all for a rule that prevents QB's from running out of bounds once they cross the line of scrimmage. If they're gonna run, they either have to slide in bounds or take the hit. I'm sick of all the coddling they get. If you don't want to get hit, don't run. Too many players use the sideline to try and draw a penalty. They wait until the defender is flying towards them like a missile and they step out just before he gets there in order to draw the penalty. If the defender lets up, they lower their shoulder and try to get an extra yard or two. It's crap.

Hall has not been vindicated for all the missed tackles in the open field this season, including the Atlanta game.

While Hall is yelling and screaming about Mike Smith, the Falcons are savoring the victory on the field.

That kind of vindication is a lot more precious.

    No vindication.
If anything, it makes Hall look bad.

I've heard nothing but calls of MeAngelo on football sites. Also, with exception of Haynesworth and Tryon, it looks bad for Hall that the players on the field didn't come to his aid (whether if it was intentional or not).

Smith should have been fined....he's a coach, he's supposed to know better and yet he was the guy (and the trainer) who was doing most/all of the grabbing and or punching on Hall.

Haynesworth is Haynesworth and frankly he has a reputation to keep......for good or bad. It was funny to see some of the Atlanta players back off as soon as Haynesworth started to get close and that shove made Haynesworth look like superman how easily he flung that player. Should have been fined, but Hayneworth frankly could care less.

Landry should have been fined, he knows better and he knows refs are looking to throw a flag on him. He also knows that the NFL will go out of it's way to protect quarterbacks to the point where they throw flags if you graze the side of their leg or dirty their cleats........sure it's a pansy rule, but that's the modern NFL.
Landry has to learn when to KO a guy and when to make a tackle or give the QB a hug (Hall/Sanders type tackle).
