Atogwe, Shaun Rogers Et Al

From my standpoint the primary benefit is that we don't have to endure the travesty of K. Moore as our starting FS anymore. Atogwe should be a good stopgap for us for a few years until we can afford to spend a 2nd or 3rd round pick on a FS.

So, if he comes in and plays well, it's a GREAT signing.

If he plays poorly, or gets hurt, it'll be SSDD.

Note: He may not want to, but even if he does, the team should not allow him to keep #21. He'll be doomed to fail before he ever starts.

Welcome to fold young man.

He tweeted yesterday he would not want #21, nor would he ask for it.

Imagine some Skins fans are happy enough about this to warrant the groan....

The team won't acknowledge it because it's their tradition....but I'd say it's a slam dunk that 21 has joined 7, 9, 28, 33, 42, 43, 44, 49, 65, 70 and 81 as numbers no Redskin will ever wear again.

I disagree with the SSDD because of the way his contract copares to others. Here is a little info from Rotoworld: http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3283/oj-atogwe

Atogwe gets $12 million guaranteed

O.J. Atogwe's new five-year, $26 million contract with the Redskins includes roughly $12 million guaranteed. For comparison, Antoine Bethea's four-year deal signed last June contained $18 million in the first two years. Eric Berry got $34 million guaranteed as the No. 5 overall pick last April. Brian Dawkins received $7.2 million guaranteed as a 36-year-old, Earl Thomas $12.32 million guaranteed on his rookie deal, and Antrel Rolle $15 million in 2011 free agency. We're not used to saying it, but it looks like the Skins did pretty well here. Mar 4, 11:57 AM

Sounds like Allen's showing off his financial/contract chops. :)

We are all excited to experience the announcement of draft selections IN REAL TIME TOGETHER. If you feel the need to be the first to 'blurt out' the team's picks you are better off staying out of chat and sticking to Twitter. Please refrain from announcing/discussing our picks until the official announcement has been made at the podium. Thanks!
