    Default THIS.........is why elections matter

Why is some political hack the head of the CIA? Why is someone with no spook experience at the head of Americas overseas intelligence agency?

    Behold

    At 1140 this morning

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110210/...gypt_mubarak_3

CIA chief says it looks likely that Mubarak is out

CIA Director Leon Panetta says U.S. intelligence indicates that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is on his way out.

Panetta tells Congress that his information indicates Mubarak could be out by Thursday night. He says there is a "high likelihood" of that.

    Then, this evening at 514

Rage in Egypt as Mubarak stops short of resigning

President Hosni Mubarak provoked rage on Egypt's streets on Thursday when he said he would hand powers to his deputy but disappointed protesters who had been expecting him to step down altogether after two weeks of unrest.

Do we really know this little? How is it no one is talking about this. I'm waiting for Obama's next vacation to come up

Sarge, I agree with you about Panetta in every respect. He should never have been appointed head spook with no experience in the intelligence field.

But if I am going to condemn Panetta, then I will have to condemn the Bush Administration for the lack of WMD's. When we all know that is bull****!

The intelligence community in the US has been out of touch for a while now.

The Obama Administration is definitely doing their best deer-in-the-headlights impersonation right now.

Don't forget the attacks on 9/11. CIA had that information and still dropped the ball.

Well, to be fair I was kinda hoping the next President would be better at this sort of thing than GWB. It's not like his performace is a particularly high benchmark.

I'm just pointing out the irony of telling us elections matter, when the last guy who was elected had a similar (much worse) gaffe, and was Republican.

And even if McCain were president, the body of the CIA would be much the same, and he probably would have gotten the same info.

Reports are that the Egyptian military was expecting him to step down yesterday and they went balistic when he gave the speech. Looks like Mubarek had a change of plans at the last minute. Of course, it's moot now.

    You mean Obama? Really?

How did you expect a man with no foreign policy experience, no leadership experience and damned little government experience to be better at intel work?

You'd like to think that someone that inexperienced would ask around, take some advice on who to put into those vital slots. Instead, we get Leon Panetta, who makes Goerge Tenet look like a phophet and this Clapper cat, who looks even more lost than Obama. If thats possible

On his best ****in' day, Obama ain't half as good of a President as George W. Bush was.

I don't think Jimmy Carter was as incompetent as this nitwit.

It's happened before in this country. Experience helps, but good leaders are good leaders.

However, I didn't say I EXPECTED Obama to be good at any of this. I just hoped he was.

If Sarah Palin becomes President in 2012, I wouldn't expect her to be any good at ... well, pretty much anything the office entailed. But I'd sure hope otherwise.

No argument from me on that.

You know how you can tell a situation is bad? When Reid and Pelosi say it's good

Yes, it's sooo comforting when the president learns about something on TV instead of from his intel services

True, because continental-type shifts like these always go down without a hitch.

yea Sarge...predicting Mubarak was done took deep analysis!

but this is good for Obama...it distracts from the complete F up that are his policies in Afghanistan.

and besides...Panetta and Obama did a fine job predicting subsequent actions by the Egyptian Army! unlike...say...an Egyptian academic in an article on American Thinker last week.

eh....let's just hope we all survive Obama.

By "his policies in Afghanistan," you mean trying to fix the enormous cluster-f that Bush left him there? Because, that would be more accurate. I'm not sure an Eisenhower-Patton presidency would be able to fix the mess we have over there.
