We vacated to the beach during the week of July, 4th. First time down there and there will be many more. My father, wife and I chartered a local guide with a 19' Boston Whaler to take us fishing. We fished in the pass that goes from the bay to the gulf, and just outside the pass. The wildlife was amazing. We saw Manta Rays jumping 4' out of the water and had Dolphins all around as we fished. We could see 20' to the bottom and watched predator fish attacking large schools of bait fish as they hid under the boat.
We fished for Kingfish as they ambushed young fry moving through the pass into the Gulf. Sylvia hooks the first one and gets it to the boat before it comes off. It was an easy 5' long and 50#. Definately the big one of the day. We boated 7, all of which were close to 4' long. Once we got our fill of that action, we switched to fishing with live shrimp and caught a variety of fish including Grouper, Trigger fish, Paddle fish and Spade fish.
