Well, the Redskins have been trying to get it right at safety since 2007 when Sean Taylor passed.
So far we have drafted a bust in Laron Landry with the
#6 overall pick in the draft, made a number of free agent signings of established but aging veterans that ended up retiring on active duty here in Washington, etc.
Now we have a guy the coaching staff identified as a future core player and less than a year later not only was he supplanted in the lineup by a trade deadline acquisition but that player, Clinton Dix, is an unrestricted free agent and likely to leave Washington after the next 2 games.
Meanwhile, Nicholson will likely be suspended for a good portion of next season due to the severity of what was shown on the video, and that's if the Redskins actually want to hold a roster spot open for him for 6-8 games, etc.
My guess is the club parts ways with him once he receives a sanction by the NFL.
Then we will be in the market for a free safety who can cover for the 12th straight offseason
