  1. Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

I think that no team signs a QB to the tag 2 years running if they don't view the guy as a franchise QB who they have every intent of signing. This is all about leverage and posturing for the best deal from both sides and nothing more.
  2. Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

We're conditioned to expect the worse. Even to the point of finding fault in signing a QB whose put up probowl type numbers two years in a row. Until the team gets it right, it's hard not to think they're getting it wrong.
  3. Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

But history is clear that good QB play it tremendously hard to find. The odds are very much against the team replacing Kirk with someone even close to as good. So even if you don't think he's the guy, odds are future potential replacements will be worse.
  4. Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

It will really suck to have the team mismanage and lose a potential franchise QB. If I was Kirk, I might ride the tag another year just for the avg. yearly salary. It's pretty crappy though, considering the cap hit. Maybe he'd like a little sunny CA.
  5. Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

I think a lot of this for Kirk, may be simply about being appreciated. Money being a prime motivator seems to be a bit of a dichotomy from what we've seen of him. Of course, he wouldn't be the first to be other than he appears. I think he's a highly emotional guy, to his detriment in...
  6. Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

This whole situation is a fail on McL if we don't sign him to a reasonably decent deal. GM's are supposed to identify and sign talent when it's in the best interest of the team. They could have locked Kirk up to a below market deal that would have been easy to shed if he didn't pan out.
  7. Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, The Mock Drafts, 2017 (Continual Updates)

And what values for that range do you use? The current value of the top 7-10 QB's contracts is below market for qb's of similar skill who would be signing a new contract today. So even if his contract is at the higher end of current contracts, it is only reflective of the current market...
  8. Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, The Mock Drafts, 2017 (Continual Updates)

I remember him saying that. I'd love to be able to compare that sort of thing to other teams/QB's.
  9. Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, The Mock Drafts, 2017 (Continual Updates)

This is always hard to tell from games on TV. I wish I could go to the games. I'd love a PIP option where I could watch the regular broadcast on one half of the TV and just a top down view on the other half.
  10. Random Commanders Thoughts

Who cares really? He's just another player looking to get paid. It's a business. I just don't see the need for him to profess any desire one way or the other. I'd imagine he feels slighted not getting a contract last year, when lets face it, the history of the NFL is to pay a QB after...
  11. Random Commanders Thoughts

If I'm in negotiations, I'm not adding any ammo to the other side, including giving the impression I'd prefer to stay with the team. It would be all about coming out on top in the negotiations. Fans have allegiance to teams. Players, not so much. Not, at least, unless they build a...
  12. Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

They have and have not. Such is the life of a QB. Kirk has not, and yet, there's no reason he won't have given enough time. No QB looks inspiring and confident in one of those big game loses.
  13. Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

I'd suggest that in two years time there haven't been "too many opportunities". Will he overcome that hump and become clutch in the "big one's", we don't know. But his improvement and development to date, suggests he can. It's a risk any team in the league would take.
  14. Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

Huh. Great QB's need help from their team after all. Who'd have thunk it? ;)
  15. Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

Well, I don't watch any news to be honest, so I don't get the reference. I don't think anyone reading your posts would come away with any other conclusion. But I've been accused before of being obtuse. :)
  16. Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

I don't think I've seen any one argue that the amount of money he is going to get is reasonable. But that's just not how it works for QB's. Never has. Never will. This team would have been competing for number 1 picks the last two years with McCoy under center. Kirk may not be carrying...
  17. Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

It's valid but largely irrelevant. QB's are always gonna be overpaid. Just the way it is. You have to pay the market value. His numbers are going to demand a large contract and it's likely to be one of highest ones. In a year or two it won't be. I don't see any way around it. You...
  18. Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

I swear if he led the team to a Super Bowl victory, there would be some wanting him gone because they're convinced he's not good enough to win more than one.
  19. Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

The teams they led won those games. You think Brady is a near Super Bowl annual participant with the Team Kirk has around him? No freaking way. It's a completely unfair and biased comparison to use as a measuring stick for Kirk after two years as a starter. Was Dan Marino an elite QB? How...
  20. Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

He's gonna get market value where ever he goes, and it's going to be a big contract. That's just how it is for QB's. Why worry about it. No matter what they sign him for, it isn't going to impact the rebuild. And in a few years it will fade to the lower end of contract cost for QB. You...
